• Every batch of commands reports what it changed on screen. A batch that changed nothing visible says so and why: colouring hidden atoms gets the fix in the same result, a batch that leaves a structure with nothing displayed is flagged, and a reply that still claims a change is sent back for a restatement.
• The colours on screen are stated in the model's context from the colour commands that ran, so a legend or a "what does green mean" describes the actual colouring.
