v3.5.3

This release focuses on major stability improvements for the AI summarization engine, hardening deployment scripts to securely handle complex passwords, resolving a MISP export bug, and bringing a fresh new look to our documentation.

Update Procedure

No breaking change or configuration is required for this release. Please follow the standard update process.

What's Changed

AI Summarization Engine & RSS Feeds

  • Fixed a startup crash where the FLAN-T5 summarizer failed to load due to the deprecation of the text2text-generation task in transformers v5. (#304)
  • Resolved an issue where AI-generated summaries would loop endlessly or hallucinate. Generation has been decoupled from the buggy HF pipeline and routed directly to the native PyTorch engine (model.generate).
  • Enhanced prompt instructions and tweaked generation parameters (length_penalty: 2.0, min_new_tokens: 60) to enforce concise and comprehensive 2-3 sentence summaries.
  • Fixed broken/garbled characters in AI-generated summaries by processing raw bytes (.content) instead of text strings (.text) when fetching RSS feeds, ensuring correct UTF-8 detection by feedparser.
  • Updated PyTorch dependencies to stabilize the loading of the FLAN-T5 and BERT-NER models.

Deployment & Infrastructure

  • Fixed a deployment failure (make up) that occurred when .env values (like DB_PASSWORD) contained shell metacharacters (e.g., $, spaces, or quotes). The deployment scripts now use a safe while-read loop instead of source .env, treating values as opaque strings and preventing unbound variable crashes. (#303)

Core, SSO & Integrations

  • SSO: Fixed dynamic SSO redirection, ensuring the next URL parameter is correctly respected to send users to their intended page after a successful login.
  • MISP: Fixed tag formatting, addressed a UI crash, enabled proper synchronization of 'Ticket ID' and 'Contact' fields for Legitimate Domains, and implemented clear status and error messaging for exports.

Documentation

  • Switched the documentation theme to sphinxawesome_theme for a cleaner, more readable layout.
  • Improved index presentation using code blocks and added the previously missing Cyber Watch core module to the documentation tree.
  • Reformatted the main README.md for better clarity and included the newly built HTML documentation for open-source users.
