Camera Media Importer v2.0.0
What's changed
- Added saved import devices with controls to add, rename, and remove them. Imports are organized beneath the selected device folder, with whitespace omitted from folder names (for example,
Sony A1 II→SonyA1II). - Simplified destination setup to one remembered import folder, with expandable import options and an updated output preview.
- Expanded photo, raw, video, and camera-folder support for cameras, drones, action cameras, and 360 cameras.
- Added matching same-folder sidecar imports, with coordinated filenames when using Keep both.
- Improved transfer reliability with staged writes, source-change and size checks, preservation of existing files on failed replacement, and source removal only after a successful move commit.
- Added destination validation and checks for overlapping source/output folders and unsafe symlink destinations.
- Improved scan error reporting, per-source progress, import state handling, and volume discovery. Failed imports remain mounted, and volumes containing the destination are protected from ejection.
- Added filesystem regression checks and an uninstall helper. App bundles are signed and verified before ZIP packaging.
Upgrading from v1.6.0
- Review the destination preview before importing: output now lives beneath the selected device folder. Select the base import folder rather than an existing device folder. The selected device applies to every source in that import.
- Existing preferences remain readable. Existing media folders are not renamed or moved; renaming a device changes only future import paths.
- Duplicate handling now checks destination paths and collisions within the current import. Legacy
.camera_transfer_manifest.jsonfiles are ignored and left untouched, so old history cannot cause missing files to be skipped. - Keep both gives matching media and sidecars the same numbered suffix.
Download
Download Camera.Media.Importer.zip, extract it, and move Camera Media Importer.app to Applications.
- Apple Silicon (arm64), macOS 13 or later. This ZIP does not include an Intel build.
- The app is ad-hoc signed, not Developer ID signed or notarized. macOS Gatekeeper may block it; this release does not provide a trusted developer signature.
Validation
- Optimized filesystem regression checks passed, including path containment, symlinks, missing sources, duplicate policies, sidecars, failed-overwrite preservation, move commits, device management, and legacy settings.
- Release build, strict code-signature verification, ZIP integrity, and bundle version checks passed.
- Physical card removal, full-disk failures, real-device ejection, and macOS 13 hardware were not tested for this release.
