Troubleshooting

An older-version spectator gets "Network Protocol Error" / "Failed to load registries"

Known upstream ViaBackwards limitation for 26.2 — see Cross-Version Support. Not fixable in this mod; needs a ViaBackwards update. Same-version (26.2) spectators are unaffected.

The game won't start / mod conflict

You are probably running two Via bootstraps. Use the plain Not Enough Spectators build (not the embedded-Via one) with this companion, and do not also install ViaFabric / ViaFabricPlus / standalone ViaVersion.

/nesvia says cross-version is OFF

Via failed to initialise. Open the host logs/latest.log, look for lines tagged [NES ViaBridge] or ViaVersion, and include them in a bug report.

Reporting a bug

Use the issue tracker. Include:

  • Host Minecraft version, NES + ViaBridge versions
  • Spectator version (if a join problem)
  • Relevant part of logs/latest.log (host, and the spectator client if applicable)
