Getting laps data for 2026 Australia FP1

[pySaurus]

I'm trying to get some laps data for FP1 for the current race weekend. It doesn't seem to be working - I'm getting an attribute error. Other attributes in the Session object seem to be coming through without issue.

Here's my snippet

I would be happy to provide more output or run more stuff if anyone has any suggestions.

Also - separate thing - orly if you are looking at this thank you for the API it's amazing. I am having a separate issue reading in the FP2 session I recorded last night. The laps thing is happening there too. But one thing at a time.

This is working fine for me, but you're not the first user having some problems here.

Can you please open your cache folder in file explorer. The location is shown in the first line of the log above ("C:\Users\18476\AppData\Local\Temp\fastf1"). In there, delete the 2026 subfolder and delete the file "fastf1_http_cache.sqlite". Then try again.

Deleting the existing cache files did not seem to have worked. I see that the debug output says it can't find the cached data and it tries to retrieve it.

Interesting. In that case please add

fastf1.set_log_level("DEBUG")

as the first thing after your imports and post the output of that. It should now include an error traceback.

I will also mention that yesterday or the day before I used this powershell command from google to update all of my out of date packages. Maybe it's not working for me due to some library update?

pandas library version mismatch. cannot have a version 3.0.0 or above.

pip install pandas==2.3.3 --force-reinstall

Thanks for debugging this! You might not be the last person to have that problem. I will try to add support for pandas >= 3.0.0 in the next release.

Ah well tbh for me this is just a lesson in not running random powershell code or at the very least looking more closley at the output. I hope this will also resolve my issue with using the live timing client to load in recorded FP2 data. The library is great! Thank you for supporting it.

Maybe try updating your fastf1 version. I was on 3.8.1 based on the printout above. I'm currently away from my PC but I'll try running this later if oehrly doesn't get to it.

You are correct, using version 3.8.1 solves the issue.
I was running Python 3.9, so fastf1 version 3.8.1 was not available for me. After updating to Python 3.11 and updating fastf1 to 3.8.1 the issue is resolved
