First beta release of Flapkit, a composable React split-flap display library.

Highlights

  • Boards, grids, rows, groups, and single/wide cassettes.
  • Unicode decks and customizable Face, Glyph, and Retainer parts.
  • CSS cascade and Canvas cascade/riffle motion; optional mechanical sound.
  • Airport and Industrial looks, with responsive documentation and examples.
  • ESM exports, TypeScript declarations, and MIT license.

Compatibility

Requires React 19 or later and Node.js 22.18 or later for tooling. This is a prerelease; rendering and styling limitations are documented in the README.

Validation

Local release checks, Chromium/Firefox/WebKit functional tests, visual snapshots, packed-package consumption, React 19.0 compatibility, and the documentation production build passed. Real-device testing is not yet complete.

The complete Ubuntu 24.04 release gate passed: https://github.com/thecuvii/flapkit/actions/runs/34926912543. One WebKit animation test timed out on the first attempt and passed on an unchanged rerun.
