Layers

Optional extra objects on the radar, map and list. All of them live in device Settings under Layers and extra objects (System tab, scroll down) or in the web panel. Two need a free API key from you; the rest just work.

Rain radar (RainViewer)

A live precipitation overlay on the map views and the ambient screensaver. No key needed. Great for watching a storm front push your traffic around.

ISS on the radar

The International Space Station appears as its own marker whenever its ground track crosses your area, with altitude and speed that make everything else look parked. Position from wheretheiss.at, no key needed.

Weather balloons (SondeHub)

Radiosondes from the SondeHub community network: weather balloons rising through your airspace, with callsign, altitude and climb rate. They show up as balloon markers (class color "other"). No key needed.

If you have ever wondered what that slow blip climbing through FL60 was, it was probably one of these.

Ships (AIS)

Live ships from AIS, with a full detail card: name, ship type, destination, speed and position. Ships get their own list mode (Planes / Ships / All toggle above the list) and cluster into count badges at low zoom.

Needs a free key from aisstream.io: create an account, generate a key, paste it into aisstream.io API key. Coverage depends on the community receiver network; coastal areas and busy rivers work best. Inland with no waterways nearby you will simply see nothing, that is normal.

Airspace zones (openAIP)

CTR, TMA and danger area outlines drawn on the radar and map, within 50 km of your position.

Needs a free key from openaip.net: register, create an API key, paste it into openAIP API key.

TAF airport forecast

Adds the TAF (terminal aerodrome forecast) of your nearest reporting airport to the stats view, next to the current METAR. The METAR itself is always on and can be shown raw or decoded (Settings > System > METAR).
