LocalFlow 1.2.2 — signed and notarized
LocalFlow now opens like any other Mac app.
Every previous release was signed with a certificate meant for development machines. On your own Mac it looked fine; on anyone else's, Gatekeeper refused it, and the "right-click and choose Open" workaround the docs suggested is not something you can rely on.
This build is signed with a Developer ID certificate, built with the hardened runtime, and notarized by Apple. Gatekeeper's verdict went from
rejected source=Unnotarized Developer ID
to
accepted source=Notarized Developer ID
Both the app and the disk image carry stapled notarization tickets, so the app still launches offline even after being dragged out of the image.
Installing
Download LocalFlow.dmg, drag it to Applications, open it. That's the whole procedure now — no warning, no right-click.
If you are on 1.2.1 or earlier, updating is worth it purely for this.
No functional changes
The app itself is identical to 1.2.1. This release is about how it is signed and delivered.

LocalFlow 1.2.1
A cleanup release. One of these is a real bug worth updating for.
Fixed: "Custom Shortcut" could make the space bar start dictation
Selecting Custom Shortcut in Settings bound a bare keycode — Space by default — with no modifier check and no way to change it, because the shortcut recorder it implied does not exist. If you had it selected, pressing the space bar anywhere in macOS could start a dictation.
The option is gone from the picker and now behaves as Hold Fn. If you had it selected, nothing to do: it resolves on its own.
Removed
Three settings that were stored but never read by anything:
- "Never save audio" — it implied there was a code path that writes audio to disk. There isn't. The guarantee is structural, and a toggle for it was theatre.
- History retention in days, which nothing ever enforced
- The orphaned custom shortcut key and modifiers
Internally, a ten-field session model that existed to carry a single bundle id is gone, along with the unused metrics struct attached to it.
Also
An unrecognised order id on the licensing endpoint returned 500, which made a mistyped link look like an outage. It now returns 404 with a message aimed at the person reading it.

The license check never phones home
Keys are Ed25519 signatures verified entirely offline against a public key compiled into the app. LocalFlow does not contact a server to confirm you paid — not on launch, not ever. Pro works with no network at all, exactly like the rest of the app.
Free-tier ceilings hide data rather than deleting it. Every dictionary rule you already have keeps working, and all 100 transcripts stay on disk. Buying Pro brings the rest back intact instead of revealing it was thrown away.
Licence change
From this release LocalFlow is under the Elastic License 2.0. You can still read, fork, modify and build it yourself. What you may not do is strip the license key check or resell LocalFlow as a hosted service.
1.0.0 and 1.1.0 remain MIT licensed forever — that grant is irrevocable and nothing here changes it. See NOTICE.md.
Install
Download LocalFlow.dmg, drag it to Applications, then right-click and choose Open the first time — the build is signed but not notarised, so macOS asks once.
LocalFlow.dmg always points at the newest release; LocalFlow-v1.2.0.dmg is the same file under its versioned name.

LocalFlow 1.1.0 — Every surface rebuilt, every preference wired up
LocalFlow 1.1.0 is a full pass over the interface. The headline is unglamorous but matters: six preferences were rendered but never read by any code — theme, floating bar size, floating bar position, transcript preview, reduced motion and the menu bar icon. All of them now do what they say.
Floating bar
- Sizes itself to its content instead of picking one of eight hardcoded widths per state
- Appears on the display under your pointer rather than always the primary one, and can follow the cursor
- Forwards mouse events to the app underneath unless it is actually showing a control, so it no longer swallows clicks
- Shows how long the microphone has been open, and a three-segment indicator for transcribing → polishing → inserting, so a slow transcription no longer reads as a hang
- The meter now draws a rolling history of real microphone levels instead of seven bars on fixed multipliers
- Speaks English, like the rest of the app
History
Your last 100 transcripts were already stored locally, but only five were reachable and only through a menu bar submenu. There is now a proper History pane with search, copy and delete.
Menu bar
The status icon reflects what the app is doing — red while recording, green on success, orange on error — with a matching tooltip. Useful when the bar is on another display.
Settings and onboarding
Nine panes rebuilt on one card system with a grouped sidebar, an explanation under every option, and confirmation on destructive actions. Onboarding gained a progress bar and now continues by itself once you grant a permission in System Settings, instead of leaving you at a disabled button.
Fixes
- Enum raw values doubled as both persistence keys and UI labels, so renaming a label would have silently reset every user's settings
- The app declared a second, competing Settings window alongside the one it actually used
create_dmg.shreused an existing app bundle, which would have shipped a stale version inside the disk image
Install
Download LocalFlow.dmg, drag the app to Applications, then right-click it and choose Open the first time. The build is code-signed but not notarised, so macOS asks once and remembers.
LocalFlow.dmg is a permanent link to the newest release — LocalFlow-v1.1.0.dmg is the same file under its versioned name.
