Inodes Table (itbl) is an implementation that keeps track of all open inodes on a particular filesystem. It is currently a simple linked-list but that will change in the future to be based on a hash-table. Each filesystem handler may choose to use itbl or provide its own implementation.

An example of a filesystem that uses itbl may be found in kernel/fs/ext2/ext2.c

...
#include <fs/itbl.h>
...

int ext2_inode_build(struct __ext2 *desc, size_t inode, struct inode **ref)
{
    ...
    struct inode *node = NULL;
    if ((node = itbl_find(desc->itbl, inode)))
        goto found;
    ...
    itbl_insert(desc->itbl, node);
    ...
}
