Permissions, Up Front
Permissions appear on the start screen as clear icons (Screen, Microphone, Camera, and Keyboard on direct builds). You grant what you need before you hit Start Recording.
Until access is granted, the related controls stay disabled, including Start Recording without Screen Recording, and the mic/camera pickers without those permissions. Hovering over a disabled control explains what you need to enable.
This avoids mid-flow system prompts when you start a capture or turn something on, so you always know what's required before you begin.
Crop, Before and After
Pick a region before recording as a soft crop: the full display is still recorded, and your selection becomes the starting crop in the editor.
While you record, the area outside the region is dimmed so the bounds stay obvious. In the editor, you can expand, shrink, or reset the crop to the full frame, so even a tight pre-recording selection is easy to fix later, and cropping before and after recording stays one seamless flow.
