AIOStreams for Tizen 6 (unofficial build)

An unofficial build of the AIOStreams TV app for
2021 and 2022 Samsung TVs (Tizen 6.0 / 6.5). The official package needs Tizen 7 (2023 TVs or
newer); this one runs on the older web engine those TVs ship with.

This is not made or supported by the AIOStreams developer: please report problems with this build
here, not on the upstream project. The changes are offered upstream in
this feature request.

Tested on a 2021 Samsung TV running Tizen 6.0.

What's in it

  • Tizen 6 support: the app's code and styles lowered to the TV's Chromium 76, with polyfills
and fallbacks for what that engine lacks, so the layout, focus and remote navigation work.
  • 1080p YouTube trailers on Samsung TVs, played in the app (the TV's own player only reached
    144p–240p).
  • Remote fixes: visible focus after pressing OK, sharper posters, start on the first card.
  • Titles a server sends without their details are no longer cached as their id ("tt…").
  • An optional "Opens the selected card out, with its details" home style
(Settings → Interface → Hero, TVs only): Netflix-like rows where the selected card opens to
its landscape picture, details and trailer, also in Discover.

Install

The package is unsigned: a Samsung TV only installs a package signed for that TV.

  1. Install Apps2Samsung on a computer on the same
network as the TV, and turn on the TV's developer mode.
  2. In Apps2Samsung, pick Custom WGT File and choose AIOStreams-tizen6.wgt from this release.
It signs the package for your TV and installs it.

It uses the same app ID as the official package, so it replaces the official app if that is
installed, and the official one replaces it in turn.

Known limits

  • Built from upstream as of this release: it won't get upstream updates until a new build is
    published here.
  • Older engine fallbacks: wrapping rows of pills may space slightly differently, and toasts keep
    some spacing quirks.
  • Trailers depend on YouTube: a title whose trailers are removed or blocked plays none.
