Release list
1.0.84
Qualyx 1.0.84
Quest setup: enable Settings → Experimental → Positional time warp before playing with Headset timewarp. The launcher has a setup popup and a shortcut. Qualyx cannot enable or verify the system switch.
- Added Pico support: the same APK works on both Quest and Pico, with headset-specific controls, defaults, and reprojection choices.
- Redesigned the launcher, settings, and add-on screens.
- Fixed loading screens and restored Alyx's native loading scenes.
- Added the Quest 36 FPS mode, targeting 36 fresh game frames and 36 app submissions on a 72 Hz display. The preset and 72 Hz + Headset timewarp + Half rate use the same pacing and pose prediction.
- New Quest installs default to that mode at 60% render resolution. Older Quest depth-reprojection settings migrate to Headset timewarp, with an option to keep the old setting.
- Added Depth Lite, optimized depth reprojection, and reduced incorrect scenery being pulled around hands during head movement.
- Reduced frame-copy overhead, including repeated CPU-fallback frames, and eye-buffer memory use. Added adaptive 75–100% resolution.
- Added optional Ultra RAM Saver. It uses a smaller texture pool and may cause blurry, missing, or dark textures.
- Added controller remapping, press-to-bind, movement-stick selection, and trigger/grip controls.
- Added settings import/export and diagnostic log export. Quitting the game returns to the launcher.
- Added experimental bHaptics support (requires bHaptics Player and paired hardware) and an option to mix hand tracking with controllers.
Depth modes can still show smearing around hands and weapons. Quest's positional time warp depends on headset software and the OS setting above; moving hands and objects still update at the game's frame rate.
1.0.83
Qualyx 1.0.83
- Better performance in demanding scenes on Quest 3.
- Smoother half-rate reprojection, less image shimmer, and a new 60 FPS mode.
- Fixed foveated rendering, with clearer strength choices and a new Extreme option.
- Added optional adaptive culling to reduce small-object detail when scenes get too demanding.
- Added hand tracking with a built-in gesture guide.
- Added Reduce foliage details to simplify plants and ambient effects.
- Graphics presets no longer lock other settings—you can adjust every option independently.
- Improved RAM Saver and texture loading to address black textures and flickering scenery.
- Reduced memory use when fog is disabled.
- Fixed a cause of pause-menu freezes and improved Reset View and startup centering.
- Changed the main shadow toggle to preserve flashlight lighting.
- Included missing subtitle files for all 28 supported languages.
- Improved game-folder selection, imported add-on compatibility, and startup file checks.
- Added an optional developer menu for cheats, map selection and other tools.
Install over your existing version to keep your data. Graphics changes apply on the next game launch.
1.0.75
Qualyx 1.0.75
- Add campaign modifications alongside playable map add-ons. Workshop downloads and local imports now support add-ons with game content but no maps, and the launcher lets you enable modifications for a campaign or map add-on.
- Move installed add-ons into the selected game folder's
hlvr_addonsdirectory. Add an installed add-on manager with size information and removal controls; saves are kept unless you choose to delete them. Existing add-ons and saves use verified, restart-safe migration. - Improve Workshop installation and recovery when game files are on external storage, and show the name of a rejected Workshop item.
- Improve Quest 2 GPU timeout handling and crash reports. Fence status checks, thread-safe retirement tracking, child-process cleanup, and restart handling aim to retain useful diagnostics after a GPU failure.
- Fixed barnacle tongues disappearing at lowest LOD.
The barnacle fix installs into the selected game archive on first launch. This may take longer and needs temporary space for the archive plus a 512 MiB reserve. Subsequent launches recognize the installed fix.
Qualyx is experimental. Updating with adb install -r keeps the app's existing data. You still need your own Steam copy of Half-Life: Alyx; game files are not included in the APK.
1.0.73
- Add Optimize installed textures under App → Game files, with 2048, 1024 and 512 pixel limits, a space estimate, progress, safe stopping and interrupted-update recovery.
- Browse Alyx Workshop items and collections inside the launcher and send selections to the downloader.
- Import local add-on VPKs, including split archives, with archive checks and separate campaign/add-on saves.
- Keep translucent effects, sprites and limited particles enabled in performance presets so wall-circuit puzzle effects and barnacle tongues are not deliberately suppressed.
- Restore campaign autosaves and save screenshots for checkpoint/menu use.
- Apply a GPU-specific Adreno 830 compatibility workaround that disables Turnip LRZ and UBWC.
1.0.65
1.0.64
Qualyx 1.0.64
Changes since 1.0.55:
- Reorganized the launcher into Play, Graphics, Advanced, and App pages, with a persistent Launch button and settings that save immediately.
- Added Standard, Balanced, and Performance graphics profiles for Quest 3, plus Custom for individual settings. Standard retains the earlier resolution range and effects; Performance trades resolution, particles, and shadows for speed. Saved individual choices are preserved when switching profiles.
- Improved frame delivery and reduced rendering overhead and temporary buffer use. Standard also uses measured GPU costs to choose rendering modes.
- Added independent shadow and real-time lighting controls, more effect toggles, and resolution, anti-aliasing, foveation, scaling, and texture-detail settings. Reduce details no longer automatically disables shadows.
- Added local map add-on import from folders and ZIP files, external add-on discovery, and playable-map selection. Campaign and add-on saves use separate libraries, with existing campaign saves preserved.
- Added per-file runtime verification and automatic repair of missing or damaged bundled files, plus a cancellable configuration reset. Cached game-file hashes reduce repeat verification work when files are unchanged.
- Added in-app release checks and APK import, with package, version, and signing-certificate checks. Release downloads also verify their size and SHA-256. Update checks now point to the public Qualyx release repository.
- Added game-language and audio-buffer settings, improved delayed controller vibration, and swap-aware memory budgeting. Additional experimental memory and pipeline-cache options remain off by default.
- Added optional experimental depth-assisted reprojection, off by default.
