OpenCrease 0.1.0
The first public release of OpenCrease: a free, local-first design tool where the canvas is real HTML and CSS, built for working with AI agents over MCP.
What's in it
- Real HTML/CSS canvas: frames, text, images, SVG and vector editing with a pen tool, flex and grid layout, constraints, guides and snapping, pages.
- Styling: OKLCH colour picker, gradients, image fills and crop, filters, shadows, rich text, Google Fonts, and about 30 WebGL shaders usable as fills.
- Design system: tokens with light/dark modes, text styles, and components with variants, props and code mapping.
- Agents: a local MCP server (stdio and Streamable HTTP) with Paper-compatible tool names and shapes, plus
oc_extras. Works with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other MCP clients. Includes a per-client permission prompt and a built-in agent panel for your own LLM provider. - Export: React, Tailwind and HTML code; PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF, SVG and PDF; video export; a headless CLI renderer.
- Import: paste HTML and Figma clipboard content; a Snapshot browser extension that captures live pages as editable layers.
- Version history: named snapshots, diffs and one-step restore.
- Files on your disk: plain JSON
.foldfolders that diff well in git. No account.

Windows and Linux builds aren't published yet. On those platforms, run from source: pnpm install && pnpm dev.
Known limits
- Single user. There's no collaboration or sync yet.
- AI providers and Figma paste have only been tested against mocks and synthetic fixtures, and the Firefox extension hasn't been tested in a real browser.
