1.0.5 tinyfetch
📦 tinyfetch — First Official Release
Welcome to the first official release of tinyfetch, a blazing-fast system fetch tool written in C — faster and lighter than traditional tools like Neofetch!
🔹 Included in this release
- 📝
tinyfetch.c— the raw C source code - 🧱 Precompiled Debian/Ubuntu binary (
tinyfetch) — ready to install and run
🔧 How it works
When you run tinyfetch for the first time, it will automatically generate a tinyfetch.conf file for configuration.
About the Configuration File Location
For simplicity, the configuration file tinyfetch.conf is created in the same directory as the binary (usually /usr/bin if you place it there). This design choice keeps the initial implementation straightforward and avoids complexity.
Why?
- Placing the config file alongside the executable makes setup easier for first-time users.
- It avoids needing to handle different config paths or environment variables.
What’s next?
In future releases, I plan to move the config file to a more standard location, such as:
$HOME/.config/tinyfetch/tinyfetch.conf- Or another conventional config directory per XDG Base Directory Specification
Contribution Invitation
If you’re comfortable with C programming, feel free to fork the project on GitHub, modify the config file behavior, and submit a pull request. I’m happy to review and merge community improvements!
Thanks for trying out tinyfetch! Your feedback and contributions help it grow.
