This release introduces major enhancements, including a fully functional eye tracking correction mechanism and granular haptics control.
New Features and Improvements
- Live Gaze Correction: Supports instant application of eye tracking offsets without requiring SteamVR restart.
- Granular Haptics Control: Adds the ability to manually set a global haptics gain (0.0x to 10.0x) for controller rumble.
Configuration Options (steamvr.vrsettings)
The following new settings are available under the "playstation_vr2_ex" section in your SteamVR configuration file.
| Setting Key | Type | Default Value | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
"useEnhancedHaptics" |
bool |
true |
Enables custom haptics and adaptive trigger processing (required for SetHapticsGain). |
"hapticsGain" |
float |
1.0 |
Global Haptics Multiplier. Changes controller rumble intensity (0.1 = low, 1.0 = normal, 10.0 = high). |
"hapticsLowFreqOverdrive" |
bool |
false |
Enables aggressive amplitude overdrive for low-frequency rumble effects. |
"disableGaze" |
bool |
false |
Disables all eye tracking functions in the driver. |
Companion Tools Integration
1. Eye Tracking Calibration
This driver is specifically designed to integrate with the companion calibration tool:
- Tool Link: https://github.com/tobexeon/PSVR2EyeTrackingCalibration
- Benefit: Allows users to generate highly accurate eye-to-head offset data, which is then applied live by this driver.
2. SetHapticsGain.exe Utility
This executable provides an easy-to-use graphical interface (GUI) to adjust the hapticsGain setting in real-time.
- Usage:
- Run
SetHapticsGain.exe. - Use the slider or input box to set the desired gain (e.g.,
0.5for half strength,2.0for double strength). - Click "Apply Gain" to instantly update the controller haptics.
- Run
