Ligature for Elixir's pipe operator doesn't work

I'm trying to get this awesome ligature for the Elixir pipe operator from the README to work:

But it doesn't render anything :(

Note: The ligature for ||> correcly renders

It’s possible that your editor or syntax highlight is messing with it. Try typing |> in a plaintext file and see if that renders as a ligature
