@tony3liu tony3liu released this 16 Oct 19:27

Eido 0.0.1 is the first stable-channel release for macOS, bringing the official, unmodified pi 1.3.0 runtime to Eido's native coding and review workspace.

Download Eido-0.0.1-macos-arm64.dmg below. Requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 13 or later.

Changes

  • Upgrade all bundled pi packages from 1.1.0 to 1.3.0 without modifying upstream pi.
  • Connect global Full Access directly to pi's autonomous execution for enabled tools, including nested Code Mode and subagents. Revocation applies to subsequent calls; Stop and agent-role tool restrictions remain available.
  • Keep extension-triggered runs alive through their setup and completion before closing browser and task resources. This adapts pi's new custom-run and busy-state behavior.
  • Refresh OpenRouter's per-key model list from global model settings or /reload using pi's public API. Other open tasks receive the refreshed catalog; ordinary settings reads use the saved cache. Offline mode, refresh failures and cancellation preserve recovery paths.
  • Restore active tool choices from recorded sessions, support MCP namespace aliases, and apply the configured sharing destination to the native sharing form.
  • Preselect the current model, thinking level and Agent Access in native forms, and synchronize the global model shortlist across open tasks.
  • Retain native file editing and review, Workbench/Code/Split views, task history, subagents, extensions, and the Ultrafast browser workflow introduced in beta3.

Model configuration, authentication and task history remain outside the app bundle. Sharing still asks for a destination and confirmation before uploading.

Validation

Passed TypeScript checks, 129 ACP tests, 48 runtime tests (one optional encoder check skipped), 7 browser tests, 19 preview tests, 73 native tests, and preparation/packaging checks. The actual rpiv 2.12.0 and Powerline 0.19.1 plugin regressions passed. All 1,276 installed coding-agent package files matched the official npm package.

An isolated native app completed browser Count: 0 → 1 and desktop text-entry/confirmation tasks through bundled pi, Chromium and Cua Driver. The tasks used a deterministic local model; screenshots reached the model requests and task resources closed after completion. Native form defaults and global settings reload were also checked. OpenRouter filtering, limits, pricing, cross-task updates, offline behavior, failure and cancellation were verified against a loopback service.

These checks establish the tested integration paths, not provider-wide reasoning or cache-hit guarantees.

Installation and current scope

Open the DMG and drag Eido into Applications. Quit an older Eido instance before replacing it. Configure the main model and authentication in global settings; Agent Access is beside the conversation input.

Browser and desktop automation remain experimental. Background desktop input and focus isolation are not reliable across all applications. Broader website compatibility, complete plugin coverage, large-project performance and additional recovery scenarios remain in development. No controlled public Jev speedup measurement is claimed.

This build is locally signed and has not been notarized by Apple. If macOS blocks launch, verify the download source and follow Apple's instructions. Computer Use requires Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions for Eido; replacing a locally signed app can require re-enabling them. The native editor uses the dev profile with debug symbols disabled, not an optimized Cargo release build.

Source and licenses

Attachments include the Apple Silicon DMG, Eido source, GPL corresponding source and SHA-256 checksums. Corresponding source includes the pinned Zed/Cua source, native dependency sources, production JavaScript packages and rebuilding instructions.

Eido-original code and the modified editor/driver use GPL-3.0-or-later. Zed's Apache-2.0 components, pi's MIT code, Cua's MIT code, browser-use/jev-ultrafast's MIT code and other dependencies retain their licenses and notices.

@tony3liu tony3liu released this 11 Oct 00:04

Eido 0.0.1 beta3 brings the Ultrafast browser agent to the existing pi/ACP workflow and makes browser input reuse the main language model and authentication by default.

Download Eido-0.0.1-beta3-macos-arm64.dmg below. Requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 13 or later.

Changes

  • Integrate a TypeScript adaptation of browser-use/jev-ultrafast, pinned to commit 1231850a0bf1a0c0341fe408ef1668dbbfdfac46, through Eido's existing ACP MCP bridge.
  • Observe the DOM and build an indexed action table in one browser call. Each step uses one TypeSafe Jev request to choose both the operation and its target, then executes only that choice.
  • Support CLICK, TYPE_TEXT, SELECT, SCROLL_UP, SCROLL_DOWN, WAIT, DONE and BLOCKED, with target freshness, visibility and obstruction checks. Screenshots are optional evidence outside the default decision loop.
  • Generate field text only for TYPE_TEXT. By default this uses the globally selected main language model and its existing pi authentication. A separate text model is optional; Use Main Model restores the shared configuration.
  • Provide the full agent lifecycle and command interface, goal lists, action history, budgets and timing, plus the browser inspector with Choose/Execute, Auto/Pause, indexed overlays and trace export.
  • Include screenshot/recording, rendering and independent scenario verification tools. MP4/GIF rendering requires an optional full FFmpeg encoder.
  • Route browser goals through browser_do. Direct fallbacks include an explicit reason and identify themselves as direct execution; they are not reported as Jev-loop runs.
  • Keep Legacy available in global browser settings. Completed actions are never automatically replayed after switching engines. Takeover discards pending decisions; task browsers close after completion, failure or cancellation.

The app bundles the official, unmodified pi 1.1.0 runtime. Model configuration, authentication and conversation history are stored outside the app and preserved during updates.

Validation

Passed 124 ACP tests, 48 runtime tests (one optional encoder check skipped in the default suite), 7 browser integration tests, 73 native tests, preparation/packaging checks and 4 checks against the final packaged app. The full encoder/render suite was also verified separately. Upstream tests, live Chromium guards, differential state-machine checks and HTTP/2 transport checks were used to verify the adaptation.

The configured DeepSeek main model was tested generating a Chinese browser query through pi, with actual Chromium input, submit and page-result checks. Deterministic local Jev fixtures cover execution, stale targets, failure, cancellation, takeover and cleanup. The installed beta3 was manually tested and accepted before publication.

These results do not establish a measured speedup across real websites. No controlled same-goal old/new public Jev latency comparison is published; upstream benchmark timings are not Eido measurements. Website, application and service availability remain subject to their providers and the beta's compatibility limits.

Installation

Open the DMG, drag Eido into Applications, and launch it. Configure your main model/authentication and the Browser Decision Model (Jev) in global settings. Browser input text shares the main model by default.

This beta is locally signed and has not been notarized by Apple. If macOS blocks launch, verify the download source and follow Apple's instructions. Computer Use requires Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions for Eido; a replacement of a locally signed beta can require those permissions to be re-enabled. Background desktop input and focus handling remain beta limitations. The native binary uses the dev profile with debug symbols disabled.

Source and licenses

Attachments include the Apple Silicon DMG, Eido source archive, corresponding source archive and SHA-256 checksums. Corresponding source includes pinned Zed/Cua source, native dependency source archives, production JavaScript packages and rebuilding instructions.

Eido-original code and the modified editor/driver use GPL-3.0-or-later. Zed's Apache-2.0 components, pi's MIT code, Cua's MIT code, browser-use/jev-ultrafast's MIT code and other dependencies retain their licenses and notices.

@tony3liu tony3liu released this 10 Oct 15:03

Eido 0.0.1 beta2 improves conversation controls and brings single-file review into the native file tab.

Download Eido-0.0.1-beta2-macos-arm64.dmg below. Requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 13 or later.

Changes

  • Copy, edit and resend user questions. Editing sends a new message while preserving the original conversation and composer draft.
  • Press Up in an empty composer to recall the previous question, including its attachments.
  • Keep All saves accepted file edits, so closing an accepted file does not ask to save it again. Conflicts and failed saves remain reviewable.
  • Delete individual conversations from the sidebar, with confirmation. Other conversations and project files are preserved.
  • Open the Git panel on the first click after launch.
  • Remove ineffective composer hints and redundant controls.
  • Collapse each turn's activity by default, with a preview of the latest tool or thought. Expand the whole header row, then expand individual thinking or tool entries for details.
  • Open files from read/edit tool entries using a separate Open File button. File navigation works after restoring a conversation, including relative paths.
  • Review a single file directly in its normal editor tab, with inline differences and Keep/Reject controls.

The app bundles the official, unmodified pi 1.1.0 runtime. Model configuration, authentication and conversation history live outside the app bundle and are preserved during updates.

Validation and installation

Validated with 124 ACP tests, 73 native tests, runtime and packaging checks, and direct desktop interaction with the packaged app. Desktop acceptance used a deterministic local model fixture through the actual bundled pi/ACP runtime. It covered question controls, two-level disclosure, file navigation, inline review, saving, Git panel opening, deletion and restart behavior. These checks do not establish every external model's task quality or every website/application's compatibility.

Open the DMG, drag Eido into Applications, and launch it. Configure the model and authentication in global settings. This beta is locally signed and has not been notarized by Apple; if macOS blocks launch, verify the source and follow Apple's instructions.

Computer Use requires Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions for Eido. After replacing a locally signed beta, macOS may require these permissions to be re-enabled. Background input and focus handling remain beta limitations. This release uses the native dev profile with debug symbols disabled.

Source and licenses

Attachments include the Apple Silicon DMG, Eido source archive, corresponding source archive, and SHA-256 checksums. The corresponding source includes the pinned Zed/Cua sources, native dependency sources, production JavaScript packages, and rebuild instructions.

Eido-original code and the modified editor/driver use GPL-3.0-or-later. Zed's Apache-2.0 components, pi's MIT code, Cua's MIT code and other dependencies retain their licenses and notices.

Eido 0.0.1 beta

Eido 0.0.1 beta Pre-release
Pre-release

@tony3liu tony3liu released this 08 Oct 13:12

Eido's first public macOS beta brings AI conversations, native code editing and review into one workspace.

Download Eido-0.0.1-beta-macos-arm64.dmg below. Requires an Apple Silicon Mac (M-series) running macOS 13 or later. Intel Macs, Windows and Linux packages are not included in this release.

Updated October 9, 2026 — pi 1.1.0

  • Upgraded the bundled, unmodified pi runtime to 1.1.0.
  • Improved Code Mode screenshots and mixed text/image output, including reading saved screenshots after restoring a conversation.
  • Added tool execution times to the conversation, retained when you return to a task.
  • Improved cancellation during MCP account sign-in and when pi extensions stop a turn, with resource cleanup before settlement.
  • Verified browser interaction, desktop input and confirmation, screenshot delivery, and conversation restoration through the native app. These checks use deterministic local fixtures and do not establish every model's autonomous task quality.

Existing model configuration, authentication and task history stay outside the app bundle and are preserved during updates. Classifier/Luna, new llama.cpp controls and Pi Durable Mode are not included in this update.

Start using Eido

  1. Open the DMG and drag Eido into Applications.
  2. Launch Eido, open a project, and configure your model and authentication in global settings.
  3. Describe a focused task, follow the agent's progress, and review and verify its changes.

This beta is locally signed and has not been notarized by Apple. If macOS blocks the first launch, check the download source and follow Apple's instructions for opening an app from an unidentified developer.

Available in this beta

  • Workbench, Code and Split views with a shared conversation and draft.
  • Project context, native code editing and review, task history and supported recovery operations.
  • Global model, thinking and Agent Access controls, using the bundled pi runtime.
  • pi Code Mode adaptation, Browser Use and Computer Use.
  • A bundled Cua desktop driver with exact-window input guards, background focus handling, screenshot validation and cleanup on completion, failure or cancellation.

Computer Use on Mac: enable Computer Use in Eido's global settings and leave the driver path empty to use the bundled driver. In System Settings → Privacy & Security, grant Eido both Accessibility and Screen & System Audio Recording permissions (the latter is called Screen Recording on some macOS versions), then restart Eido. Standalone Cua Driver permissions do not transfer to Eido. Permission setup is manual in this beta. After replacing this locally signed beta, macOS may require you to turn these permissions off and back on, or remove and re-add Eido, before Computer Use works again.

Preview scope

The app was validated with native build and runtime checks, packaged startup and browser checks, and desktop fixtures covering background input, multiple windows, coordinate rejection, cancellation and cleanup. Desktop automation also requires the installed Eido app's macOS permissions to be active. This does not establish compatibility with every website, application, model or plugin. Screen-protected applications can prevent capture.

This is an early preview built with the native dev profile and stripped debug symbols. Performance, broader compatibility and complete agent capability coverage remain work in progress. Try a small project first and report reproducible problems in Issues.
