Folio Nooir v1.5.6

This release focuses on faster bookshelf navigation, large-library handling, sleep/wake behavior, and X3/X4 compatibility.

Highlights

  • Faster Library, Recent, and Finished navigation with cache-first metadata handling.
  • Improved filename search and recursive Search All Folders.
  • Two-stage Retrieve All Book Details with progress feedback, cache skipping, thumbnail recovery, and Stop for now support.
  • Retrieval refreshes only the affected book instead of rebuilding the entire shelf.
  • Added Clock & Weather sync with cached results and Web UI support.
  • Added persistent To-Do List with on-device, Web UI, and sleep-screen modes.
  • Added independent Quick Resume and Resume Reader on Wake settings.
  • Added battery percentage to bookshelf headers.
  • Added lightweight reading pages, pace, streak, and calendar statistics.
  • Improved Web Transfer responsiveness and on-demand metadata editing.
  • Improved newer X3 display detection with UC8279d/UC8253 fallback handling.
  • Default build remains non-BLE; Bluetooth/page-turner support is still experimental.

Hardware warning

Folio Nooir has been physically tested on an older Xteink X4 revision. Newer X3 panels are supported through conservative controller detection, but every hardware revision has not been individually tested. Keep a known-good recovery firmware before flashing. X4 Pro/S3 hardware is not supported.

Folio Nooir is a personal bookshelf-focused fork of CrossPoint Reader, with selected ideas adapted from CrossInk.
