Privfox Screen 1.0.0
Privfox Screen 1.0.0 is a universal macOS app for macOS 14 or later. It runs
natively on Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
Important trust notice
This direct-download build is ad-hoc signed for bundle integrity, but it is
not Developer ID signed or notarized by Apple. macOS cannot verify the
publisher and will block the first launch. If you are not comfortable making a
per-app security exception, build the source in Xcode or wait for the notarized
release.
Do not disable Gatekeeper globally and do not use Terminal commands that remove
macOS security protections. Follow the per-app Open Anyway steps in the
Privfox install guide or
Apple's guidance.
Included
- Presentation Mode with a locally saved preparation checklist.
- Safe Apps matched locally by exact bundle identifier.
- Configurable emergency shortcut for the multi-display Privacy Curtain.
- Professional, Companion, and Hidden appearance options.
- No account, analytics, cloud sync, backend, or core network calls.
Limits
Privfox Screen is not a universal screen-share detector or capture blocker. Its
Privacy Curtain is a normal opaque app window intended for whole-display
sharing. It cannot guarantee coverage of app/window-only shares, screenshots,
recordings, system UI, the lock screen, or pre-filtered capture paths.
Verify the download
Download both release files, then run:
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/Privfox-Screen-1.0.0.zipCompare the result with Privfox-Screen-1.0.0.zip.sha256 attached to this
release. A matching checksum confirms that the file matches this release; it
does not replace Apple notarization.
Install
- Open the ZIP and move Privfox Screen to Applications.
- Try to open Privfox Screen once, then close the macOS warning.
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and scroll to Security.
- Click Open Anyway, authenticate, then confirm Open.
- Complete onboarding and test the Privacy Curtain before a real presentation.
Updates are manual for this release: download the newer release and replace the
existing app in Applications.
