What @dayhappy2012 is asking is how to read a binary stream of in-memory bytes (e.g., bytes, bytearray) comprising a STEP file. They don't actually have a physical on-disk STEP file; they only have the abstract in-memory contents of what would be a STEP file if they actually had one, which they don't.

Is that about right, @dayhappy2012? My advice for the moment would be just to write your byte stream to a temporary file and read from that. Yes, that's lame, but sometimes you just gotta be lame and ship that code out.
