Summary

Updates the terminology source of truth with two decisions made 2026-07-12 while we designed the installer + home-screen copy, plus the new CLI terms:

  • "workspace" → "secure environment" — the on-prem environment, everywhere user-facing. This reverses the 2026-06-05 "workspace" decision (open question Add CLAUDE.md #1, re-decided). client still survives only in Client ID.
  • "contributor" → "collaborators" — the invited model builders (open question Block bots from crawling Mintlify static assets #3, decided).
  • Added: the tracebloc CLI (the tracebloc/tb command); this machine for the specific host in CLI/installer copy; push added to ingest's don't-use list.
  • Definitions updated to say "secure environment" / "collaborators" (Client ID, Online/Offline, etc.).

⚠️ Propagation gap — this is bigger than one file

"secure environment" is not yet in the other terminology surfaces, and it actually reverses a brand rule. Before this is fully consistent, these need the same sweep (flagged in the doc + open question #1):

  • The communication skill's "Terminology Bible" — a second copy of these terms; still says workspace + contributors, and explicitly lists "don't say environment."
  • The website and decks — say "workspace".
  • The app UI — still shows "client" / "clients page".

So merging this makes docs/TERMINOLOGY.md correct, but the comms skill + marketing surfaces will disagree until swept.

Why

Every screen we built this session (the status-aware home screen cli#244, the installer run-through) uses "secure environment" and "collaborators". This aligns the source of truth with the shipped/locked copy.

Test plan

Docs-only (a single markdown file). No code paths.

Note

Low Risk
Docs-only change to a single markdown file; no runtime behavior, though merging creates intentional terminology mismatch until other surfaces are updated.

Overview
Realigns TERMINOLOGY.md with 2026-07-12 product copy: the on-prem install is now secure environment (retiring workspace, reversing the earlier workspace decision) and invited model builders are collaborators (retiring contributor). Client ID stays the only “client” noun.

The core terms table gains the tracebloc CLI (tracebloc / tb), this machine for host-specific CLI/installer wording, and push on the ingest don’t-use list; definitions and Online/Offline wording follow the new terms. Owner / “you” replaces workspace owner pending open question #2.

A sync note and updated open questions call out that the communication skill Terminology Bible, website, decks, and app UI still use workspace/contributors until a follow-up sweep.

…(was contributor)

Reverses the 2026-06-05 'workspace' decision per Lukas (2026-07-12): the on-prem
environment is a 'secure environment' everywhere user-facing; the invited model
builders are 'collaborators' (retires 'contributor'). Adds the tracebloc CLI +
'this machine' terms and 'push' to ingest's don't-use. Flags the propagation gap:
the communication skill's Terminology Bible + website + decks still say workspace.

👋 Heads-up — Code review queue is at 53 / 30

Above the WIP limit. The team convention is to review existing PRs before opening new work.

Open PRs currently in Code review (oldest first):

Pull from review before opening new work. (This is a nudge from the kanban WIP check, not a block.)

Superseded by #61 (the comprehensive terminology dictionary). Folding the 2026-07-12 'secure environment' decision + the tracebloc CLI / 'this machine' terms into #61 instead — avoids two competing terminology PRs.
