Socials Studio v0.1.0-beta.4 — Linux Chrome detection fix
Linux Chrome detection fix
v0.1.0-beta.3's Linux installer could mistake Chromium for the Google Chrome that Socials
Studio actually requires: setup accepted chromium/chromium-browser as satisfying the Chrome
check, but onboarding's runtime check has never accepted Chromium -- so setup could report Chrome
as present, and onboarding would then refuse the very executable it found.
v0.1.0-beta.4 aligns installer detection with the actual onboarding requirement: both now
recognise exactly the same three real Google Chrome executable names on Linux (chrome,
google-chrome, google-chrome-stable). Chromium remains unsupported -- Socials Studio's
login and publishing design deliberately depends on real Chrome, not Chromium.
Windows and macOS application behaviour is unchanged by this release.
Testing status
- All three installer packages (Windows, macOS, Linux) passed automated build and smoke tests.
- The beta.3 Windows installer was human-tested successfully on a real Windows 11 machine.
This newly built beta.4 binary has not yet received a separate human hardware test. - Linux: installer mechanics tested on Ubuntu 24.04 x64; real Chrome/account publishing has
not been tested through this package. - macOS: automated CI runner test only -- no human hardware test has been received yet.
If you try this on macOS or Linux, please report how it went (or open an issue).

Socials Studio v0.1.0-beta.3 — Guided installers
Guided installers -- no GitHub, Git, or Python experience needed
Socials Studio now has a guided download route for anyone with a Claude subscription who wants to
get started without cloning a repo or installing Python themselves.
- Windows:
Socials-Studio-Setup.exeprovisions its own managed Python environment
automatically -- no system Python required. If Claude Code isn't already installed, the
installer can offer to install it (via WinGet, or Anthropic's official installer) through an
opt-in checkbox on the finish page. You'll still need to complete Claude's own sign-in with an
eligible Claude account before Socials Studio can run. - macOS:
Socials-Studio-macOS.zip-- requires a system Python 3.10 or later already
installed. - Linux:
Socials-Studio-Linux.tar.gz-- requires a system Python 3.10 or later already
installed.
Reinstalling or upgrading over an existing install preserves your saved platform logins and OAuth
tokens (profiles/) -- nothing there is ever touched.
Also included: a fix for onboarding failing when Chrome or the OS language wasn't set to English
(login verification was reading a translated accessible-name string instead of the expected
English one).
As always, nothing is published to any platform without your explicit confirmation -- publishing
still requires --confirm-publish / confirm_publish=True.
A note on the Windows installer: it isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may show an
"unrecognized publisher" warning the first time you run it. This is expected for now.
Testing status -- read before installing
- Windows: installed and launched successfully on a real Windows machine. Existing Claude Code
detection and launch into Socials Studio were confirmed working end-to-end. - The optional "install Claude Code for me" route has passed automated Windows CI testing, but has
not yet been tested by a person on a machine where Claude Code wasn't already installed. - Linux: installer mechanics tested on Ubuntu 24.04 x64; real Chrome/account publishing has not
been tested through this package. - macOS: automated CI runner test only -- no human hardware test has been received yet.
If you try this on macOS or Linux, please report how it went (or open an issue) -- real hardware
test reports are exactly what's needed to move these platforms from "automated test only" to
"verified."

Socials Studio v0.1.0-beta.2
Socials Studio v0.1.0-beta.2
Socials Studio is a local-first, agentic social media publishing application, operated
through Claude Code. Clone the repository, run claude, and
describe what you want -- an idea, a campaign brief, or finished media. Claude creates
platform-specific posts, coordinates them into a multi-platform campaign, reviews the result with
you, and publishes approved posts once you explicitly confirm.
Supported platforms
YouTube, X (Twitter), Bluesky, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
- YouTube publishes through the official Data API via OAuth -- no browser automation at all,
since Google blocks automated sign-in outright. - X, Bluesky, LinkedIn, and Instagram each publish through a saved, human-created browser session
-- you complete each login yourself in a real Chrome window. Socials Studio saves and reuses
the resulting local browser session; it does not ask Claude to enter your passwords.
What it does
- Creates a single platform-specific post, or coordinates a whole multi-platform campaign from
one idea or one piece of media. - Works with OpenMontage-rendered video and reads its
script/brief/render-report artifacts to ground the copy it writes -- and works exactly the same
way with a finished video from anywhere else, or with no video at all. Socials Studio is an
independent project, not affiliated with, maintained by, or endorsed by OpenMontage. - Validates every post by default and touches no browser, API, or network call to a platform
until you explicitly pass--confirm-publish.
What isn't included yet
- Live streaming.
- Unattended or scheduled automated publishing, as a packaged workflow -- Claude can already run
a full multi-post campaign in one session with your review and confirmation at each
consequential step; what's missing is publication that continues without that review.
A note on reliability
X, Bluesky, LinkedIn, and Instagram publish through browser automation against real, live
platform UIs, not official APIs -- when one of those platforms changes its interface, the
matching publisher may need maintenance. YouTube's official Data API path doesn't carry this
risk.
License and testing
Open source under the
MIT License. This
beta has been developed and tested with Claude Code; other coding agents, operating systems, and
configurations haven't been validated yet -- reports from real use are welcome either way, pass
or fail.

Socials Studio v0.1.0-beta.1 - Public Beta
Socials Studio Public Beta
Publish your OpenMontage videos. OpenMontage creates the video. Socials Studio handles the
next stage: review, authentication and publication. Publish videos and posts to YouTube, TikTok,
Instagram and X.
Socials Studio is an independent community project. It is not affiliated with, maintained by or
endorsed by OpenMontage.
What is included
- Login wizard for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and X (session creation via a real Chrome window
you drive yourself) - Publish support for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and X
- Safe-by-default workflow:
--dry-runvalidates inputs without launching a browser or uploading
anything; live publish defaults to private/draft where supported unless you explicitly ask for
public - File-based OpenMontage compatibility: accepts any finished video file, including OpenMontage
output, with no dependency on OpenMontage's code and no technical integration - Setup and usage documentation, issue templates, public roadmap
Testing status
This release has been developed with Claude Code. Publishing has been tested for YouTube, TikTok,
Instagram and X, including with OpenMontage-rendered video. Other coding agents, operating
systems, and configurations have not been validated at all yet.
This is a beta release. Test it carefully, use --dry-run first, and review anything before it
goes out to a live account.
Feedback wanted
Please share your test results and tell us:
- Whether installation worked
- Your operating system
- Whether you used Claude Code or another coding agent
- Whether authentication worked
- Whether publication succeeded, and on which platform
- Where the instructions were unclear
- Any failure involving OpenMontage-rendered output specifically
Use GitHub Issues for reproducible problems (bug report, feature request, and beta-testing report
templates are all set up) and GitHub Discussions for broader feedback and ideas.
OpenMontage compatibility
Socials Studio accepts independently created video files, including video rendered by
OpenMontage, the same way it accepts any other file. This is file-based compatibility, not a
technical integration, plugin, adapter, or partnership.
Socials Studio is an independent community project. It is not affiliated with, maintained by or
endorsed by OpenMontage.
Known limitations
- Browser-automation selectors are best-effort against live platform UIs and can go stale when a
platform changes its upload/login flow. - No MCP server yet -- this is a CLI tool for now (
python -m auth...), not an agent tool
integration. Tracked in the roadmap. - No OpenMontage
tools/publishers/adapter exists yet, and any future one would be an ordinary
third-party contribution, not an official integration or partnership. - No Bluesky publish support yet.
Installation
See the Install section of the README.
