2.3.0 — Streamlined Database Updates

This release separates database freshness checks from deep integrity verification, eliminating redundant validation of installed databases during updates.

Changed

  • ip-data:update --check now performs lightweight local inspection and remote freshness checks, without a full MMDB scan.
  • Normal updates fully validate downloaded candidates before installation, without deeply revalidating the databases being replaced.
  • Downloaded Country and ASN candidates can be validated concurrently using --workers=2.
  • Missing or invalid local databases can be repaired through the update workflow.

Added

  • ip-data:verify for explicit deep integrity verification of installed databases, with configurable parallel workers.

Usage

Check for updates:

php artisan ip-data:update --check

Verify installed databases:

php artisan ip-data:verify --workers=2

Download, validate, and install updates:

php artisan ip-data:update --workers=2

Upgrade Note

--check now checks freshness, rather than performing full integrity verification. Use ip-data:verify when you need a complete check of the installed MMDB files.

Sequential validation remains the default. Local IP lookups continue to work without external API calls, and downloaded candidates must pass full validation before installation.

2.2.0 — Parallel MMDB Validation

2.2.0 — Parallel MMDB Validation

This release adds configurable parallel validation for the Country and ASN databases, allowing their integrity checks to run in separate PHP processes.

Added

  • Configurable worker limit through IP_ANALYZER_VALIDATION_WORKERS and the --workers command option.
  • Per-database progress reporting, elapsed time, and estimated remaining time during parallel validation.
  • Configurable worker timeout and handling of worker failures and cancellation.

Compatibility

Validation remains sequential by default with one worker. With both Country and ASN selected, up to two workers can run concurrently.

Existing integrity checks, English and Hungarian output, and JSON output behavior are preserved. IP lookups continue to use local databases without external API calls.

Usage

php artisan ip-data:update --check --workers=2

To configure the worker limit:

IP_ANALYZER_VALIDATION_WORKERS=2

Actual performance gains depend on available CPU, memory, and storage resources.
