v0.4.0 — Custom Fields, Idempotent Linking, Dependencies & Checklists

A major feature release that adds custom field support, replaces comment-based GitHub linking with idempotent description/custom field storage, and introduces dependency and checklist management.

New Commands

  • field list --list-id ID — discover custom fields available on a list (name, type, ID, options)
  • task dependency add/remove — manage task dependencies (--depends-on, --blocks)
  • task checklist add/remove — create and delete checklists on tasks
  • task checklist item add/resolve/remove — manage checklist items

Custom Fields

  • --field "Name=value" on task create and task edit — set custom field values
  • --clear-field "Name" on task edit — remove custom field values
  • 14+ field types supported: text, number, URL, email, date, checkbox, dropdown, labels, currency, location, users, tasks, emoji, progress
  • Custom fields displayed in task view — formatted by type (dropdown shows option name, labels shows selected labels, etc.)

Idempotent GitHub Linking

  • Link commands no longer post comments — link pr, link branch, link commit, and link sync now store links in a managed section of the task description
  • Deduplication by prefix — re-running a command updates the existing entry rather than adding duplicates
  • Cross-cutting cards — multiple PRs from different repos coexist as separate entries
  • Optional custom field storage — configure link_field in config to store links in a ClickUp custom field (URL or text type) instead of the description
  • Per-project override — directory_defaults supports per-directory link_field config

Extended Task Properties

  • New flags on task create and task edit: --parent, --links-to, --type, --markdown-description, --due-date-time, --start-date-time, --notify-all
  • Milestone support — --type 1 creates milestones, displayed with a badge in task view

Enhanced task view

  • Location path (Space > Folder > List)
  • Parent task reference
  • Watchers list
  • Dependencies (waiting on / blocking)
  • Linked tasks
  • Checklists with item completion status
  • Attachments with URLs
  • Custom field values (formatted by type)

CLI Help Improvements

  • Examples added to task edit, task create, link branch, link commit
  • Checklist ID discovery hint in --help output
  • Updated task group description to reflect all 9 subcommands
  • Documented --assignee me shortcut on task list

  • Migrated docs site from Jekyll to Astro Starlight
  • Updated all docs pages: commands, configuration, git integration, getting started, AI agents, contributing
  • New link_field configuration section with description section and custom field approaches
  • MECE audit and fix of all stale documentation
  • Go version requirement updated to 1.25

Breaking Changes

  • Link commands no longer post comments. If you relied on ClickUp task comments for GitHub links, they now appear in the task description (or a configured custom field) instead. This is idempotent and produces cleaner results.
