AppleNugs 1.5
Two changes to the now-playing surfaces.
The artist and the show are clickable. Everywhere the app shows what's playing — the inspector card, the bottom transport bar, the full-screen players — the artist name now opens that artist's page and the date/venue line opens that show's page. The text looks exactly as it did before; on hover it picks up a dotted underline so you can see what's actionable. Right-click (or long-press on iOS) reaches the same two destinations, and both are exposed as VoiceOver actions.
The inspector holds its shape while a track loads. Starting a track from the queue used to drop the Signal section from six rows to two and jump the whole Up Next list, then jump it back a moment later when the stream finished resolving. The rows now stay put, showing a dimmed em-dash until each value is known. The same section also used to be missing entirely on a launch-restored queue until you pressed play; it isn't any more.
Also in this build: a deep link to an artist whose catalog name carries stray whitespace now resolves directly instead of falling through to a slower search.
Requires macOS 14 or later. Notarized; open the DMG and drag AppleNugs to Applications. Existing 1.4 installs will offer this automatically via Sparkle.

AppleNugs 1.4
Fixed
- Scrub slider no longer reads as "finished" on streams that report no duration. Livestreams and webcasts pinned the position thumb hard right seconds into playback, because the slider's maximum fell back to 1 second. The thumb now sits at 0 for the duration-less case on both Mac transport surfaces — the standard transport bar and The Receiver's faceplate. This completes a fix that had already landed on the iOS surfaces.
Also in this release
Substantial iOS work — the now-playing pill gained a progress ring around its artwork and lost its seek edge — but the iOS app is personal-install only, so this DMG is a Mac build. Mac users get the scrub fix above.
Requires macOS 14 or later. Notarized and stapled; opens with no Gatekeeper warning. Existing installs will be offered this update automatically via Sparkle.
v1.3
Full-screen video on macOS
The Mac video player had no full-screen button. AVPlayerView.showsFullScreenToggleButton defaults to off and was never enabled, so concerts played in a letterbox wedged between the sidebar, the transport bar, and the inspector — with no way out.
- Full-screen toggle on the video player. Hover the video to reveal the controls; the button enters full screen and the same button exits, as does Esc.
- No more phantom music. A video that finished while full screen used to hand playback back to the audio queue immediately, starting music behind a window you couldn't see past. The hand-back now waits until you leave full screen.
iOS is unchanged — it already had full-screen video.
Install: download the DMG, drag AppleNugs to Applications. Existing installs will be offered this update automatically via Sparkle.
AppleNugs 1.2
The Dashboard gets a real player
The inspector's now-playing section is now a per-theme miniplayer instead of a text block:
- Tape Room — a Compact Cassette at true 25:16: your cover shows through the shell window behind two reels whose tape packs actually trade size as the track runs, the exposed tape span is the scrubber, and the write-on label carries the track, artist, and show.
- The Receiver — a tuner faceplate with live L/R VU meters, a RECEIVING lamp, and machined transport buttons.
- Click Wheel — a monochrome track card over a compact dial.
- Soundboard & Shoebox — a token-driven compact player with cover chip, scrubber, and transport (filled vs. keyline personality).
Every variant scrubs, shows elapsed/remaining time, and keeps prev/play/next a click away. The inspector column now sits at 340–380pt so the show line fits.
Fixes
- Cassette reel hubs now show their splines, so you can see them turn — and freeze in place when you pause.
