Same story, six films

The kit's one rule is no two films should feel like the same film. This release shows the rule at work instead of describing it.

We wrote one 12-second script for the fictional Acme Pulse:

1. Hook: too many dashboards.
2. Reveal: Pulse arrives.
3. Proof: Pulse catches "Checkout conversion −18% · since 09:42" and a human presses Roll back.
4. CTA: "You ship. Pulse watches."

We built that script in six themes from the gallery. Every storyboard passed the variety audit, and every film invented its own component:

• tools/pick_themes.py: shortlists themes for a tone and an audience, and skips the ones from your last five films.
• tools/history_report.py: a one-page report of what you keep reaching for, with the transitions and themes you've never tried.

v1.1: the creative muscle

The one rule of the kit is now explicit: no two films should feel like the same film. Don't repeat effects, transitions or components. Invent a new component for every film. Decide the message and the tone before you pick a single effect.

New

• creative/: the seven questions to ask at every storyboard, a tone matrix ("I want to say ___ in a ___ tone"), the variety rules, and a component forge for inventing a new component in 15 minutes.
• Transition atlas: 24 narrative transitions (cut, carry, camera, mask, material, time), each with a live demo, the tones it fits, when to avoid it and a seek-safe GSAP recipe.
• tools/variety_audit.py: reads your storyboard ledger and flags repeated transitions, entrances, eases and directions, uniform shot lengths, missing surprises, accent overuse, tone mismatches and missing new components. --history remembers your previous films.

The Acme example, rebuilt as a lesson

We ran the audit on our own first draft of the Acme Suite loop. It caught 11 repetitions: the same turntable turn five times, the same title entrance, one ease everywhere, equal 6 s shots and no surprise.

v2 (attached below) fixes them:

• every product has its own entrance: letters out of blur, a mask wipe with a typewriter line, "Acme" carried between shots while only the product name flips, a drop from above;
• each turn arrives differently: a cubic turn, a whip with motion blur, a slow sine;
• shot lengths are uneven (6.5 / 5 / 5.5 / 8 / 5 s);
• one surprise: Forecast floods teal from the product, the camera dollies in, and "weeks" gets struck out.
