What's new
Strip Silence now has two right-click commands:
- Strip Silence — runs exactly as before: reads your
.strip-silence.json(or built-in defaults) and strips silence with no prompts. - Strip Silence Edit — opens a small settings window first, so you can adjust before running:
- Threshold in dB (e.g.
-80) - Head pad in ms — quiet lead-in kept before each remaining clip
- Tail pad in ms — quiet decay kept after each remaining clip
- Threshold in dB (e.g.
Notes on the Edit dialog:
- It starts prefilled from
.strip-silence.jsonif you have one, otherwise built-in defaults. - Values apply to that run only; nothing writes back to your config file.
- Leave a padding field blank to keep your current safety padding (25 ms unless your config says otherwise).
- Esc or Cancel closes without touching any clips.
Both commands share the same detection and clearing code, and everything still runs as one undo step.
Known issues
- If your selection starts exactly where a clip starts (no time selected before it), a few milliseconds of silence can remain at the very start of the selection after stripping. Workaround: extend the selection slightly before the clip and re-run.
