Allow viewing/editing custom filters from the dashboard

Prerequisites

I tried to reproduce the issue when...

• uBO Lite is the only extension.
• using a new, unmodified browser profile.

Description

There's a developer mode in the dashboard, which allows viewing (and editing?) the DNR rules, but there is no such thing for the custom css rules.

A specific URL where the issue occurs.

Steps to Reproduce

Expected behavior

I would like to have another tab similar to 'develop', which would list the existing css rules and allow adding new ones. As the filters are stored per hostname, it could have a similar dropdown per hostname.

Actual behavior

It is currently only possible to add/remove custom filters by going to the site directly.

It's planned but I haven't yet decided whether this should be a "My filters" pane or tucked away in the "Develop" pane. I have leaned toward the later since I introduced the custom filters feature, using a YAML format like other set of data (hence more suitable to technical users), with some work done toward this already done locally, but since those filters can be added/removed without the "Develop" mode, I am questioning whether this should be hidden behind a "Develop" mode -- hence my current indecision.

I was mostly referring to develop tab because that's the existing implementation of an editor. I can see how 'my filters' could confuse some people because it's specifically only for css.

I'd really like to see this implemented.

I suggest initially putting it on the developer's tab. Then if it's clear it is easy to use and hard to break, you can later make it more accessible.

I'd like this feature, very much, too, especially, since there's a few CSS changing rules in uBO, that I am now dearly missing in uBOL ;)

The filtering mode is also added/removed without the "Develop" mode but the ability to view filtering modes is hidden under Develop which isn't shown by default

@gorhill Do you plan on adding cosmetic filter exception support to custom filters? (It doesn't exactly seem o fit #406) ref

When trying to add invalid filters, e.g. exceptions, nothing gets applied, no errors show.

I've also noticed that sometimes first attempts to add filters (e.g. right after launching dashboard, but not always) will not get applied on the first click. They usually do on the 2nd. The most tries I've encountered was 4, when testing with invalid filters.
I wasn't able to find reliable steps to repro every time though.

The "undo" button in filter removals looks a bit too much like a "refresh", IMO. (Both here and in "remove custom filter")
Just wondering if something closer to ↶ wouldn't be better?

Or maybe add an "apply" button to confirm removal without having to refresh the page for the filters to disappear?

Are there any plans for some sort of comment system in uBOL or is this not feasible due to domain-grouping filters?

BTW - I've found an issue related to comments.

Comments are supposed to get ignored when adding filters to uBOL. They are.
The issue is that if a comment is in the first line of the input field, nothing will get added, not even valid filters from subsequent lines.

From the limited testing I've done, if the comments are in other lines, they'll get ignored, but valid filters will still get added.

Speaking of grouping, is alphabetical sorting necessary? This will make it harder to share filters for specific things if the solution requires more than one line. Especially without comments + since we can only export to a file.

Also, alphabetical sorting doesn't seem to take a selector's length into consideration, so they'll be sorted: 1, 10, 2, (...), 9.
Though, that makes sense for non-numerical selectors, so I guess not worth a fix...

But how about allowing users to choose whether they want alphabetical or chronological sorting?
