8Bitdo Ultimate 2C Wireless Controller Detecting as Generic Controller

Describe the bug

Connecting my 8BitDo Ultimate 2C controller, regardless of if it's over Bluetooth or with the 2.4GHz dongle results in the controller getting detected as a Generic Controller which leads to issues when it comes to Steam Controller/Steam Input support, connecting the controller to Windows has it detect as an Xbox controller which is the intended behavior.

What did you expect to happen?

When connecting the controller I would expect it to detect as an Xbox controller as it's primarily an XInput device and other 8BitDo controllers are recognized as Xbox controllers.

Make sure the controller is in Xinput mode, Generic Controller means it is connected in Dinput mode

When the controller is powered off, press and hold [X+home] or [B+home] to switch between Xinput mode and Dinput mode. The mode you’ve switched will be saved.

I've tried this but it doesn't seem to change anything unfortunately, detects as generic regardless, as I say, connecting the controller to Windows has it detecting as an Xbox controller so i'd assume it's already in XInput mode.

thats for changing between the dongle and bluetooth which is different

Same issue here, seems like the 8bitdo drivers arent in bazzite:

oh damn, im on bazzite and the controller properly detected the extra extended inputs but only on the first connection ever. now reconnecting it doesnt work detects "generic" same the the OP exactly... hopefully its fixed soon with proper sleep wake fix too.

Same problem on arch. The 2C shows up as a generic gamepad and is not recognized in games because of it.
Home + X trick doesn't work for me.

To the people who can't get the mode switching to work, try updating the controller and dongle firmware. It should be possible to switch between xinput and dinput when using the dongle after updating.

The gist was made for the Ultimate 2, but I'm guessing 8bitdo added the feature to the 2C as well.

Unfortunately Windows/MacOS is required to do the update.

Unfortunataly Bluetooth connection has no XInput mode
