Adjustment in icon spacing

The space between the icons detract from the system icons.Is it possible to make this adjustment?

If you can't do it, could you signal where I make this adjustment in the code?
I can make a PR with Fix.

this is handled through the .panel-status-indicators-box css class provided by upstream, it could be tuned by using a local .appindicator-box css class too, but we does not override it by default.

And that's defined as:

  .panel-status-indicators-box,
  .panel-status-menu-box {
    spacing: 2px;
  }

So code is in appIndicator.js and indicatorStatusIcon.js

That file is loaded at runtime, in your machine it should be in ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions where there's this extension folder.

Regarding this bug in general, I've done some changes in #415 that also affect this, please check again if you are affected.

is this a bug? seriously? that must be a joke. this is an issue for many years now. are there any way to fix it manually on 24.04? i don't want to wait for another decade.

don't do what? it is ridiculous how ubuntu changed and it's bugs are just became family members. every lts have some serious drawbacks and major issues. the pre-unity era was a dream. the present is a bad joke. it took ~2 years for the devs to fix the launchpad+askubuntu login issue. i understand that this appindicator thing is not a major issue but i thought this is how it designed to work. now i know this is just another unfixed and/or forgotten thing for a long time. i'm not blaming anyone personally. i'm blaming canonical that they cannot properly fork gnome 3/os/anything and bake it in-house well.

I think this extension fixes the issue nicely: https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/355/status-area-horizontal-spacing/
at least it does for me on 24.04

Works for me on Fedora 41 with GNOME 47.5.
