Solstice 0.2.0 beta 7
Pre-release
Pre-release
The seventh beta of Solstice, a desktop painting application derived from Krita 6, adds a complete Simplified Chinese interface.
What's new since 0.2.0-beta.6
- Simplified Chinese interface: the whole interface is available in 简体中文, including the features Solstice adds (Quick Access, Rest Note, Asset Library, Vision ML, the GPU engine settings, Layer Comps, Puppet Warp and the new filters). Choose Settings > Switch Application Language > Chinese Simplified and restart Solstice.
- Machine translation, corrections welcome: the translation of Solstice's own text is machine-made and has not yet been reviewed by a native speaker. Please report awkward or cut-off text in Solstice Issues, with a screenshot if you can.
- Names kept in English: Solstice, Quick Access, Quick Access Palette, Quick Brush Adjustments, HueSVC, Rest Note, Asset Library, Vision ML, Puppet Warp, Layer Comps, Brush Stroke Layer and the filters Solstice adds keep their English names, so they match the guides and screenshots.
- First-start import dialog: the offer to import a Krita profile, which appears before the language setting is read, is now shown in English, Japanese or Simplified Chinese, following Krita's language setting or the Windows display language.
- Translated error details: Quick Access profile errors and Vision ML processing errors are now translated instead of showing English details inside translated dialogs.
- Website: the Solstice site is also available in Simplified Chinese.
Download
Windows x64: download Solstice-0.2.0-beta.7-windows-x64-53685b8aaeab.zip, extract it and start Solstice.exe. No installer is needed.
- This is an unsigned beta package. Settings and resources remain in
%APPDATA%\Solstice, separate from Krita. - The
-dbg.zipcontains debug symbols for crash reports; it is not the application download. SHA256SUMS.txtcontains checksums for both ZIP files.- Explorer
.kra/.krzthumbnails can be registered withshellex\register-thumbnails.cmd(guide).
Scope and known limitations
- Other interface languages use the translations Solstice inherited from Krita; in those languages, the features Solstice adds are shown in English.
- The Simplified Chinese interface has not yet been checked screen by screen; some labels may be cut off or read oddly.
- The Solstice user guides on GitHub remain in English. For the basics shared with Krita, see the Krita manual in Chinese.
- G'MIC-Qt uses its own translation; Qt's standard buttons and dialogs follow the chosen language.
- The limitations of 0.2.0-beta.6 still apply (see its release notes). This release is a prerelease.
Supported environment
- Tested locally on Windows 11, 64-bit; the downloadable package is built on GitHub's Windows runner.
- The Vulkan engine targets NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and is tested on an RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell. Other GPUs are untested; see the GPU Engine guide for requirements and fallback behavior.
- Linux and macOS are not validated. Android is not supported.
Please report problems in Solstice Issues. Solstice is independent of the Krita project and KDE. All user guides are in docs.
