v0.1.6 — Public Beta
TCLimate v0.1.6 — Public Beta
An update to the unofficial macOS menu bar companion for TCL Home air conditioners.
New
- Live updates: changes made on the unit, its remote, or the TCL Home app now show up as they happen over MQTT. If the live connection drops, TCLimate falls back to regular refreshes.
- Daily electricity details: tap a bar in the electricity chart to see that day's kWh and how it compares with the week's average.
- Right-click menu on the menu bar icon with Open, Settings, and Quit.
Changed
- Smoother panel: the panel now grows and shrinks with its content when sections open and close, with no jumps or empty space, and clicking the icon again closes it.
- Offline alerts check TCL's online status every 60 seconds.
- If macOS hides the menu bar icon, opening TCLimate again from Applications or Spotlight shows the panel.
Install
Requires macOS 14 or later and internet access. Open the DMG, drag TCLimate onto the Applications shortcut, eject the image, then open the app from Applications. A ZIP is also available; open it from Finder. Replace any existing copy and keep only one installed copy. Saved sign-ins and Launch at Login carry over from earlier versions.
Both the app and DMG are Developer ID–signed, notarized by Apple, and include stapled notarization tickets. Verify either download with the accompanying SHA256SUMS file if desired.
Beta limitations
Live validation covers two Split AC units and a Pakistan account. Other models and regions are unverified. Live updates, refreshes, and offline alerts only run while TCLimate is open. No local LAN control or direct Google OAuth.
This project uses unofficial APIs and is not affiliated with TCL. Report issues without passwords, tokens, device identifiers, or unredacted captures.
v0.1.5 — Public Beta
TCLimate v0.1.5 — Public Beta
A small update to the unofficial macOS menu bar companion for TCL Home air conditioners.
Changed
- Background refresh: units now refresh every 2 minutes while the panel is closed, so the temperature in the menu bar stays current. The open panel still refreshes every 30 seconds.
- Offline alerts now fire from any refresh, so a unit going offline is no longer missed when the panel noticed it first.
Install
Requires macOS 14 or later and internet access. Open the DMG, drag TCLimate onto the Applications shortcut, eject the image, then open the app from Applications. A ZIP is also available; open it from Finder. Replace any existing copy and keep only one installed copy. Saved sign-ins and Launch at Login carry over from earlier versions.

v0.1.4 — Public Beta
TCLimate v0.1.4 — Public Beta
A feature update to the unofficial macOS menu bar companion for TCL Home air conditioners.
Added
- Presets: one-tap Quiet night, Max cool and Warm. Each unit gets only the steps it supports, and a unit that is off is turned on first.
- Sleep timer: turn a unit off after 15 minutes to 2 hours, with a live countdown. Runs while the app is open.
- Settings page inside the panel (gear in the header): Launch at Login, menu bar reading, account and sign-out.
- Menu bar reading: choose the set, room or outdoor temperature next to the icon, or the icon alone. An earlier room-temperature setting carries over.
- Turn off all and Copy settings from the selected unit to the others that are on.
- Offline alerts: an optional notification when a unit goes offline, checked every 5 minutes while signed in.
- Keyboard shortcuts: ⌘↑/⌘↓ change the set temperature, and ⌘1–⌘3 switch units.
- Your TCL account name and picture appear in Settings.
Changed
- Controls respond instantly. The app shows the result straight away, then confirms it with the cloud and shows "Syncing…" until it does. Quick repeated taps add up instead of being ignored.
- Mode, fan, sleep and airflow open as tiles with their options inline, and the AC illustration shows the flap and fins moving.
- The temperature range follows the unit's own limits when it reports them.
- Clearer error messages, for example when you're offline, TCL's servers are down, or the email or password is wrong.
- The sign-in form checks the email address and keeps the panel open when you use password manager AutoFill.
- The panel opens faster, fades between screens instead of sliding, and never grows taller than the screen it opens on.
Install
Requires macOS 14 or later and internet access. Open the DMG, drag TCLimate onto the Applications shortcut, eject the image, then open the app from Applications. A ZIP is also available.
Presets, the sleep timer and offline alerts are unit-tested or checked on those units only; other models and regions are unverified. The sleep timer and offline alerts only run while TCLimate is open. No local LAN control, direct Google OAuth, or MQTT live subscriptions.

v0.1.3 — Public Beta
TCLimate v0.1.3 — Public Beta

- Left/right swing now sits in the same Airflow tile as up/down, with one menu for both.
Changed
- Offline units no longer show their last known temperature, mode or controls, only that they are offline.
- The unit switcher shows each AC's full name from TCL Home.
Install

A maintenance update to the unofficial macOS menu bar companion for TCL Home air conditioners.
Changed
