TuringOS 1.2 fixes the biggest problem testers hit with 1.1: there was no web browser, so you couldn't sign in to Claude or get an API key. It also adds an installer, so your setup survives a reboot.
What's new:

  • Brave is the default browser, with the Claude extension installed and pinned. claude → /login, the Anthropic Console (API keys) and Google sign-in now open right there. Leo, Rewards, Wallet and VPN are switched off.
  • Install to disk: click Install in the dock (or Ctrl+K → "Install TuringOS"). The Calamares installer partitions the disk, creates your account (it logs in automatically, like the live session) and installs GRUB for BIOS or UEFI. Works offline. Tested on UEFI: installs in about 2–3 minutes and files persist across reboots.
  • Live USB persistence: a "Live system (persistence)" boot entry, with pkg/make-persistence.sh to create the persistence partition.
  • Homebrew is ready to use: brew install .
  • Settings in the dock now opens a settings app (lxqt-config).
  • Clawd, the pixel mascot in the bottom-right corner, has new moods: a mug while an agent works, > < when a task is done, spiral eyes on errors, and a heart when you hover. Shake the cursor (a few full swipes) to ask it something.
  • arm64 build scripts (arm/build.sh, arm/test-qemu.sh).
    ARM64
There's an ARM64 ISO now. It boots on Apple Silicon (via UTM) and Raspberry Pi 4/5. Brave, the installer, persistence, Homebrew and Clawd all work the same as amd64.
  • live-image-arm64.hybrid.iso — check it against the .sha256.
  • Build it yourself with arm/build.sh, test with arm/test-qemu.sh.
  • The installer works on UEFI ARM. BIOS ARM and Raspberry Pi-specific bootloaders haven't been tested yet.
Download live-image-amd64.hybrid.iso below and check it against the .sha256 file. Boot it in a VM (4 GB RAM, 2 CPUs, a 20 GB+ disk if you want to install) or write it to a USB stick.
Known issues: BIOS installs and Secure Boot haven't been tested yet. "Erase disk" makes a swap partition as large as your RAM.
