How to Update Your Project

Single Update (Most Common)

  1. Backup your entire project folder first
  2. Download the .unitypackage below
  3. In Unity: Assets > Import Package > Custom Package
  4. Select the downloaded .unitypackage file
  5. CRITICAL: Review the import dialog carefully
  6. Uncheck anything you've edited in Assets/U3D or Assets/Settings, including the demo scene in Assets/U3D/U3D_Demo. Checked files are overwritten.
  7. Keep checked everything else. The package contains only Assets/U3D and Assets/Settings; nothing outside those folders is touched.

  9. Verify your template version updated in Creator Dashboard

Troubleshooting After Update

If a GameObject loses U3D functionality after updating:

  1. Select the GameObject in the Hierarchy
  2. In the Inspector, remove any missing or outdated U3D components
  3. Re-apply the feature from the Creator Dashboard (toolbar → U3D)

Tip: If you edited the demo scene and want to keep it, save a copy outside Assets/U3D before importing.

Important Notes

  • Always backup your entire project folder before updating
  • Check your current version in Creator Dashboard first
  • Uncheck anything you edited in Assets/U3D or Assets/Settings to preserve your work

To start a project with the Unreality3D template, use the Get U3D Template button on unreality3d.com and follow the Quick Start Guide. You'll need Unity 6.3 LTS (6000.3.19f1) with WebGL Build Support installed.

The Creator Dashboard in your Unity project (U3D → Creator Dashboard in the Unity Editor's menu bar) checks for new releases. When one is out, it shows Update available with a Download & Install Update button. Each update is also posted here as a release, if you'd like to see what changed.

Questions and bug reports are welcome in GitHub Discussions.
