Learn about vigilant mode.

Initial public Android TV / Google TV pre-release.

Download Beeb-Android-0.1.1.apk below and follow the installation guide in the README. Android 8.0 or later is required. No Android Studio or Google Play developer account is needed to sideload the supplied APK.

Features include BBC programme browsing, live channels, individual episode artwork, saved programmes, local Continue Watching, Media3 playback and subtitles, version-matched skip intro/recap markers, and optional direct 4K HLG playback using your own accepted TwinVine identity. No credentials are bundled.

This version adds faster 1.5-second playback overlays, left/right navigation on a taller homepage banner, a padded dark launcher icon, and a cleaner episode metadata overlay.

Validation: release build, lint and six unit tests pass. The developer has confirmed 4K HDR HLG playback on a Chromecast with Google TV. Wider hardware compatibility, live-channel coverage and the full temporary-caption rewind integration test still need further testing; see VALIDATION.md.

The source archive, SHA-256 checksums, GPL licence, attribution and detailed optional UHD setup instructions are included. This is an independent player and is not produced or endorsed by the BBC.
