v1.13.0 — Native desktop application
LocalFinance now includes a Wails v3 native desktop application alongside the portable browser/server edition. Both use the same React interface, Go finance services, optional local finance MCP integration, and existing SQLite ledger.

Existing users
Quit the current server before opening the desktop app. Desktop automatically reuses ~/.localfinance/local_finance.db; transactions, categories, tags, notes, and database-backed settings remain in place. If using a custom database path, start desktop with -db pointing to that ledger. Browser-local preferences may need configuring again when switching hosts. The updated hosts prevent concurrent use of the same ledger.
Portable users continue receiving portable updates. Desktop updates offer full installer replacements and preserve the separately stored database.
Platform requirements
- macOS 13+. Default builds are ad-hoc signed and not notarized. After opening a trusted download, use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. See the release guide for targeted quarantine recovery if this flow is unavailable.
- Windows: WebView2 must already be installed. Installers are unsigned unless signing credentials are configured.
- Linux desktop: Ubuntu 24.04 / glibc 2.39, GTK4, WebKitGTK 6. The tarball has the same runtime requirements as the Debian package. Use the CGO-free portable edition on older/other distributions.
Validation and remaining limitations
macOS native window, single-instance behavior, save/export dialogs, and loopback listener were verified interactively. The full CI build matrix and package checksum verification passed. Windows/Linux installer and native interaction smoke checks have not yet been completed. Wails is pinned to v3.0.0-beta.28. No overall performance improvement is claimed.
v1.12.0 - Monthly import calendar
Monthly import calendar
Data Health now shows all 12 months of a year so missing statement imports are easy to spot. Select one or more sources, or leave the filter empty to see all sources. Select a month to inspect its imports and open their transaction records.
- Bank statement ranges can cover several months; credit-card statements count once in their assigned statement month.
- Distinguish missing imports, partial ranges, undated files, unfinished periods, and accounts outside their tracking dates.
- Set tracking start/stop dates, confirm months with no activity, and correct a file's assigned month.
- Cards with a known billing day receive a three-calendar-day grace period before being marked missing.
- Preferences synchronize across browser tabs and remove entries for deleted accounts/imports.
- Improve accessible action labels, privacy-mode labels, and mobile layouts.
Tracking dates, no-activity confirmations, and month corrections are saved in the browser and are not included in database backups. “Imported” records an import or date range; it does not verify every transaction.
Validation
63 frontend tests, frontend build/typecheck, lint, CGO-free backend tests, GitHub CI, and desktop/mobile browser checks passed.
Changes: PR #25.
v1.11.0 - Statement PDF previews and imported records
Statement import review
- Preview original imported PDFs directly from Statement Audit History, with page navigation, zoom, password unlock, and download.
- Open the Transactions Ledger filtered to a selected import and reopen its PDF for quick comparison.
- Keep record links across overlapping re-imports without creating duplicate transactions or losing manual categories, tags, and notes.
- Store original PDFs in the local SQLite database; password-protected PDFs retain their protection. The viewer and worker are bundled for offline use.
Upgrade notes
Database migrations run automatically at startup. Keep a local backup before upgrading. PDFs saved by this release are included in database backups.
Older imports do not have retained PDFs until re-imported. Historical overlapping imports can only recover their latest available transaction association; re-import the source to create a complete new import record. Record views show current ledger edits. Existing latest-import deletion ownership is unchanged.
The local SQLite database is not encrypted by the app lock. Retained PDF bytes have the same disk protection as the rest of your local data; encrypted source PDFs remain encrypted.
Validation
Full CGO-free Go tests and vet, 50 frontend tests, lint/build, dependency audit, and desktop/mobile browser checks passed. Regression tests cover encrypted PDFs, authentication/cache headers, migration backfill, overlapping membership, preserved edits, scoped pagination, deletion cleanup, and reset.

v1.9.0 — Savings planning and UX improvements
What's new
- Savings forecast: explore the next 3, 6 or 12 months with editable income, spending, starting money and one-off expenses. See source-history gaps, shortfalls and money reserved for goals.
- Savings goals: track local targets, deadlines, manual progress and monthly contributions. Goals are included in database backups and JSON exports.
- Data health: inspect statement date coverage, missing ranges and stale accounts, then jump straight to transactions needing category review.
Improvements and fixes
- Crowded cash-flow Sankey diagrams now preserve readable labels and totals, support compact/expanded views and provide a readable phone layout.
- Corrected cash-flow supporting transaction filters and calendar boundaries.
- Multi-year ledgers now use the latest 12 recorded months for overview trends and forecast inputs.
- More consistent shadcn controls, keyboard access, responsive dialogs, loading/error feedback, privacy masking and live system-theme handling.
- Routes load on demand, reducing the initial frontend bundle.
All new features run locally and respect app lock and Discreet Mode. Savings goals are plans, not additional assets or money transfers. Forecasts use monthly assumptions rather than predicting daily bank balances; statement date coverage does not verify balances or complete transaction rows.
Upgrade
Migration 00018 is applied automatically on startup to store savings goals. Existing statement imports, transaction identity, categories, tags and notes retain their existing behavior.
Platform packages and SHA-256 checksums are attached below. macOS packages retain the project's existing local ad-hoc signing; they are not Developer ID signed or notarized.

v1.7.0 — Easier MCP setup
Easier AI / MCP setup
- Choose Codex, Claude Code, or Ollama through OpenCode in provider tabs.
- Copy a Shell or PowerShell command with your access token included, then run it to configure your installed AI client.
- Setup uses the client's own CLI, reports missing clients, preserves other MCP connections, and supports rerunning after token rotation.
- Manual configuration remains available. Port and write-permission controls are grouped under advanced settings.
- Codex's token-bearing configuration is protected with Windows ACLs or POSIX permissions.
Startup fix
- Recover the known legacy database state where the MCP settings table exists but migration history stops at version 13.
- Recovery verifies the original schema and preserves existing access settings and transaction edits. Published SQL migrations remain unchanged.
