v0.1.2
Adds one page for your doctor to the result screen on the set: what was observed, what the check measured, why it was not scored if it was not, and what the page is not. Same wording tests as the website. Install: adb connect :5555 then adb install earshot-tv-v0.1.2.apk.
Earshot for Fire TV 0.1.1
Earshot for Fire TV, 0.1.1.
A hearing check you take with the remote, on the device where the
difficulty shows first. It plays a film whose dialogue loudness was
measured with Amazon Transcribe and ffmpeg, records the level you settle
on, and runs a digits-in-noise screen entirely on the D-pad. Sittings
are kept on the set and never uploaded. There is no microphone and no
camera anywhere in it.
New in 0.1.1:
- The set's own volume is read once a second through a native module
around AudioManager. On a television whose volume the remote drives,
turning the set up is recorded as turning the set up; the model gets
the player's gain times the set's volume, which is what the viewer
hears. On a stick the set's part is fixed and the player's gain is the
whole measurement, as before. - Ten-foot type. The drift is the biggest thing on the home screen, the
threshold is the biggest thing on the result screen, and the button
row stays on one line above the fold.
Install, from a laptop on the same network as the television:
adb connect <fire-tv-ip>:5555
adb install earshot-tv-v0.1.1.apk
ADB debugging is under Settings, My Fire TV, Developer Options on the
set. The film is inside the APK, so the check works with the network
unplugged.
Contains arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a and x86_64, so it installs on Fire TV
hardware as well as an emulator. Signed with the project's debug key,
as a sideloaded demonstration build. The JavaScript bundle inside was
built from the repository at this tag.
What it cannot do, stated rather than omitted: it cannot see what other
apps play, because reading another app's media session needs a
permission Amazon does not grant to third parties. It measures its own
playback. That is friction log entry 12 and the feature request this
submission most wants read.
