Every archive includes a Dictionary directory with the NAIST Japanese dictionary
(BSD-3-Clause, jpreprocess's build), used to read kanji lyrics and their pitch accent.
On macOS it lives inside the application bundle.
None of it is code-signed. macOS will refuse the first launch and say the developer
cannot be verified: open it from the right-click menu once, or run
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "Auris Studio.app". Windows SmartScreen wants
More info → Run anyway.
Auris Studio is at 0.x, where nothing is stable: the project format, the configuration
files and every public API may change in any release, with no migration.
Installation and updates
- Install the desktop application on Windows and macOS. Releases now include a per-user
Windows installer and a universal macOS DMG alongside the portable archives. The desktop,
command-line tools, update helper and Japanese dictionary come from the same build. - Check for updates from the application. Installed copies can download updates in the
background and apply them after quitting or choosing Restart and Update. Portable copies
and source builds open the release page instead. Background updates can be disabled in Settings.
Composition and agents
- Use installed Codex and Claude Code backends. Both share the live session tools, streamed
progress, cancellation and permission controls. Persistent conversations keep separate histories,
drafts and attachments, with clearer model selection and reasons when sending is unavailable. - Generate accompaniment around a protected melody. Add or regenerate selected backing parts
in one undoable operation, request melody-aware harmony proposals, and inspect arrangement,
phrase breathing and instrument-aware endings before accepting bounded repairs. - Shape and verify the performance. Agents can inspect and edit articulations, strum, groove,
pitch, expression and automation, then read back the performed notes and curves. Recipe controls,
regeneration and checkpoints use the same commands across frontends. - Review audio before delivering it. Agents can audition unsaved work, compare immutable
renders, import references and prepare audio or MIDI exports without saving over the open project.
A reusable composition skill documents the desktop, CLI and MCP workflows.
Mixer, singing and sound libraries
- Edit signal flow in the mixer graph. Connect tracks and buses, use parallel outputs,
inspect live wire levels, and arrange or zoom the graph. Layout and camera state are saved
with the project, and graph moves support Undo. - Preserve VOICEVOX consonants when changing dynamics. Velocity and expression scale decoded
audio instead of weakening the Engine's articulation. Extended kana, anticipated consonants,
short gaps and duration validation are handled more consistently. - Inspect and repair lyrics explicitly. Lyric diagnostics expose phrase capacity and timing
problems; guarded repairs preserve unrelated notes and reject stale changes. - Reuse imported SoundFonts across projects. A shared library catalog makes imported fonts
available to new sessions. Library icons retain their source-type colors.
Rendering, editing and reliability
- Render hosted plugins more reliably. VST3 instruments activate their main output and use
the correct offline processing mode and block configuration. CLAP instruments release held
notes when transport stops, and plugin loading respects configured trust boundaries. - Keep rendered peaks within the ceiling. True-peak limiting accounts for inter-sample
overshoot, and agent exports measure and attenuate overloaded audio before integer encoding. - Keep desktop edits and unsaved work intact. macOS quit and close requests use the unsaved
work flow; native text editing, clipboard operations, note gestures, drum remapping and settings
field caret placement receive cross-platform fixes. Permission-rule migration preserves denials
without broadening old grants.
Compatibility
- Projects are saved as format 32. Formats 27 through 31, including v0.9.0 projects, can be opened;
saving writes format 32, which older applications may not read. Keep a copy before upgrading. - macOS 13.4 or newer and Rust 1.95 or newer are required. Windows release builds include ASIO.
Desktop installers remain unsigned; platform first-launch instructions are in the release notes.
