Business Card Redesign

Front

  • Single-row footer: QR code, trust.samuelmok.cc, Reviewed by UTwente librarians, utwente.nl/library β€” all in one centered line, separated by dots
  • Enlarged content boxes: what?/conclusion boxes now fill ~46% of card height (up from ~30%), with vertically top-aligned text matching the back card style
  • Inline pill labels: pill labels restored with inline text flowing right after β€” no line break between label and text
  • Unified URL font: all URLs (trust.samuelmok.cc, utwente.nl/library, seal URL) now use JetBrains Mono consistently

Back

  • Fixed stray commas: principle rows no longer have comma separators between them (missing .join() in array)
  • Increased findings capacity: char limit raised from 350β†’500 so all strengths/weaknesses fit

Firefox Support 🦊

The extension is now available on Firefox Add-ons!

  • README updated with Firefox install instructions
  • Site updated with Firefox download links in header, brand strip, and install section
  • New e2e smoke test that loads the extension in a Firefox profile and verifies the side panel renders

πŸ“„ Report polish + Firefox validation fix

A follow-up patch addressing the Firefox AMO validation error and several report refinements from review feedback.

πŸ”§ Fixed

  • Firefox add-on validation (the blocker). data_collection_permissions must be a nested object, not a boolean β€” it now declares { "required": ["none"] } (the extension collects no data), which passes AMO. The fixed 0.9.2-firefox.zip is attached; upload it to AMO.
  • Evidence zoom β€” actually working now. Clicking a screenshot still did nothing because the open details popover's native light-dismiss cancelled the lightbox open. Fixed with a capture-phase handler that defers the open to the next frame, so click-to-zoom is reliable.

🎨 Changed

  • Wider summary. The report summary was too narrow on desktop (~50% of the viewport); it now spans ~60–70%, so principle scores render cleanly with no column wrapping or horizontal scroll.
  • "Details" popover. The separate Rubric and Evidence buttons are merged into one Details popover that mirrors the extension's question view: the full option list (0–3, N/A, Unsure) with the chosen level highlighted, plus background, examples, the reviewer note, and the linked evidence β€” click any screenshot to zoom.
  • Tinted summary sections. Conclusion / Recommendation / Strengths / Weaknesses now carry subtle background tints so each area is easy to spot.
  • Simpler structure. With the verdict content folded into the summary, the separate Verdict section and the top navigation bar are gone β€” leaving two parts: Summary and Detailed Scores.

πŸ“„ Report summary redesign + Firefox validation fix

A focused patch: a cleaner report summary, a fixed evidence viewer, and the Firefox add-on now passes AMO validation.

🎨 Report summary

The "nutrition label" summary is rebuilt as a compact, centered card (no longer stretches to full content width). It's now a single bordered cell, top to bottom:

  • Title Β· tool Β· verdict stamp β€” clean header, with the tool's logo/name/url condensed into one compact lockup.
  • All scores in one row β€” every quality gate now shows as a small 2Γ—2 pass/fail grid sitting alongside the TR / RE / US / SE / TC and Overall columns, so you see the whole scorecard at a glance. The separate "quality gates failed" warning under the verdict is gone.
  • Conclusion & Recommendation join the summary (previously only Strengths/Weaknesses were there).
  • The hard black dividers between sections are removed.

πŸ”§ Fixed

  • Evidence viewer: clicking a screenshot in the report now opens it full-screen. It was hidden behind the evidence popovers; the lightbox is now rendered in the top layer so it always appears on top. Evidence thumbnails are larger and uncropped, and per-evidence reviewer notes are shown.
  • Firefox add-on validation: the Firefox build failed AMO's required data_collection_permissions check. Added the declaration (the extension is fully local β€” no telemetry), a stable add-on ID, and dropped the Chrome-only sidePanel permission for Firefox.

v0.9.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 18 Jun 07:31

πŸ“„ A rebuilt report β€” and a cleaner one

This release restructures the generated evaluation report into three clear parts β€” Summary, Detailed Scores, and Verdict β€” with a sticky nav that follows you down the page, and polishes every section so the report reads like the publication it is.

✨ A three-part report

  • Summary Β· Detailed Scores Β· Verdict. The report is now divided into three parts separated by clear headers, each reachable from a sticky segmented nav at the top that highlights the section you're reading.
  • At-a-glance overview chips. Every question shows a state dot (β—‹ unanswered Β· ● answered Β· βœ“ with evidence), its score colour, and an evidence count β€” replacing the old distribution bar.
  • Fold-out detail per finding. Each row is compact; click Rubric for the scoring requirement and examples, or Evidence (N) to see the linked screenshots. Light-dismiss + Esc, no page jump.
  • Click-to-zoom evidence. Any screenshot opens full-size in a lightbox.

🎨 Report polish

  • The Detailed Scores header is back in a compact form β€” tool name, URL, date, question count.
  • Quick Notes now appear in the report, properly styled with timestamps.
  • The Summary scorecard is de-duplicated: no more repeated per-principle number, no redundant legend, no "see the detailed report" line.
  • Quality-gate flags are now colour-coded FAIL / UNSURE chips instead of plain text.
  • The Verdict lost its doubled accent bars and the "details above" note β€” the verdict seal and your conclusion/strengths/weaknesses sit cleanly under the header.
  • Print & PDF are fixed: finding descriptions are no longer clipped to one line, and rubric/evidence fold-outs appear inline in the printed copy.

πŸ”§ Fixed

  • Report lightbox now opens on click (a dropped variable declaration broke it); Discipline "fewer options" can be collapsed again; Quick Notes survive a reload; annotation previews refresh on save; "jump to first incomplete" no longer scrolls the header away; tab tooltips land in the right place; exported-report logos render offline; report screenshots are sized for sharing with a click-to-zoom lightbox; auto-save now covers every metadata field.

β™Ώ Accessibility

  • The finalization grade selector is a real radiogroup (arrow keys, focus tracking, Home/End). The report nav announces the active section to screen readers, the lightbox manages focus, and fold-outs keep working in older browsers without the Popover API.

πŸ”’ Security

  • Hardened archive import: a crafted review ZIP could sneak a javascript: link past the importer using embedded tab/newline characters (browsers ignore them when resolving the scheme). Imported URLs are now normalized first, and external url() references in inline style attributes are stripped too.

🧹 Also

  • Marketing site and in-browser trial redesigned to match the instrument.
  • WCAG-AA contrast pass on score/principle text; unified design tokens.
  • 797 tests (+11). Full notes in CHANGELOG.md.

🎨 Reports that earn their verdict β€” plus an annotation fix

This release turns the generated evaluation reports into a premium, readable publication β€” overview chips, WCAG-AA contrast, authoritative seals, embedded fonts, and tasteful motion β€” and fixes the tldraw annotation panel, which has been broken on open since v0.7.1.

✨ New

  • Enhanced recommendation grades (Labs) β€” the finalization selector now offers 9 grades: Recommended, With Caveats, Needs Review, Pilot Only, Not Recommended, and Out of Scope join Pass/Conditional/Fail.
  • Business-card report β€” a compact 85.6 Γ— 54 mm printable variant in every export ZIP.
  • Tool database & comparison (website) β€” sortable tools table with per-principle scores, plus a side-by-side Compare tab.
  • In-browser trial at site/try/ to try the TRUST workflow without installing the extension.
  • Tool profile auto-detection β€” known tool URLs auto-fill metadata and suggest test queries.
  • Report dev preview β€” pnpm report:dev to live-preview all report variants.

🎨 Reports: design + motion

  • Per-principle overview chips replace the misleading 4-color distribution bar β€” each question shows a state indicator (β—‹ unanswered Β· ● answered Β· βœ“ answered with evidence) plus score colour and evidence marker.
  • WCAG-AA contrast across score badges, verdict stamps, and labels; an embedded Roboto Condensed subset keeps the heading identity even without Arial Narrow installed.
  • Honest verdicts β€” all-N/A reports read "NOT EVALUATED" (was "RECOMMENDED"); the quality-gate summary no longer claims "all passed" prematurely.
  • Premium craft β€” double-rule verdict seals, framed principle cornerstones, a screen-title masthead, a verdict-coloured conclusion drop-cap, print publication chrome, and scroll-reveal + spring-stamp entrance motion (fully neutralized under prefers-reduced-motion).
  • Print, accessibility, and copy refinements (49 prose em-dashes replaced with standard punctuation).

πŸ–₯️ Extension UI (sidepanel)

  • Unified screen-title hierarchy; navy-tint token cohesion (fixing a green judgment-text WCAG-AA failure); committed structural presence (3 px active-tab, masthead rule, judgment frames); restrained micro-interactions (modal choreography, tactile presses).

πŸ”§ Fixed

  • Annotation panel (tldraw) CSP error on mount β€” since v0.7.1 the strict CSP blocked tldraw's runtime translation fetch, breaking the annotation canvas whenever it opened. Fixed by allowing the tldraw CDN in connect-src.
  • New tests guard the CSP regression and cover the annotation panel (ActionBar + editor lifecycle) β€” 757 tests total.
  • Batch-export folder dedup, compare all-null handling, web-trial cleanup, clipboard permissions.

🧹 Changed / Removed

  • SE principle is now consistently "Soundness" across the website.
  • Remotion video tooling removed (rendered MP4s preserved).
  • Code-quality cleanup (shared helpers, named verdict constants, dead-export removal).

πŸš€ 4Γ— Faster Load Time

The biggest change in this release is performance: the annotation editor library is now loaded only when you need it, cutting initial load from 2 MB to 438 KB β€” roughly four times faster to open and start evaluating.

⚑ Performance

  • 4Γ— faster initial load. The tldraw annotation library (1.6 MB) is now lazy-loaded. The sidepanel opens and becomes interactive much faster because it no longer downloads the annotation code upfront.
  • Faster exports. The export pipeline now pre-computes a lookup map for rubric questions, reducing report generation time. ZIP compression is tuned for speed (level 6 instead of 9).
  • Semantic logo file names. Exported ZIP files now contain trust-logo.jpg, lisa-eis-logo.jpg, and ut-logo.jpg instead of generic 1.jpg, 2.jpg, 3.jpg.

πŸ”§ Fixes

  • Score circles now round down consistently. A principle averaging 1.5 used to show 2 filled circles. Now it shows 1 β€” matching the printed numeric score below. No more visual overstatement.
  • Screen reader support in exported reports. The nutrition label table now uses proper <th> header cells, so screen readers can announce principle columns correctly.
  • Print-friendly image sizing. Embedded images in printed reports are capped at 300 px height for cleaner output.

πŸ”’ Security

  • Hardened ZIP import. Archive imports now strip CSS url() references and sanitize srcset attributes in captured HTML. Path-traversal detection also catches URL-encoded .. sequences.
  • Malformed ZIP entries no longer crash. Invalid percent-encoding in entry names is handled gracefully instead of throwing an unhandled exception.
  • HTML report link hardening. The safeLink() function now sanitizes all attributes, preventing potential injection in generated reports.

🎨 Design

  • Focus rings are now blue. Keyboard focus indicators use the brand blue (--ut-blue) instead of magenta, improving contrast and visibility on dark backgrounds.
  • Bigger touch targets. Buttons now have a minimum 28 px hit area, making the extension easier to use on tablets and touchscreens.
  • Cleaner visual style. Five decorative box-shadows were removed, modal corners use the standard radius, and the Finalize button uses proper design tokens instead of hardcoded colors.
  • Smoother transitions. CSS animations now target specific properties instead of all, eliminating unintended layout shifts.
