Black Wire 0.13.0 — Radio references and gesture zoom

Pinch to enlarge a reference, then drag to the connector you need. Image and PDF viewers now support two-finger pinch, pointer dragging, trackpad Ctrl+wheel, double-click/double-tap and focused-viewer keyboard controls. The existing buttons remain available, with a 25–600% range. PDF rendering keeps the previous page visible while a bounded-resolution canvas is refreshed.

Collection 2026.09.13 adds 34 board/module records and enriches 12 existing records: RAKwireless, Heltec, Elecrow, Seeed Studio, H4M Pro, ESP32-MDK, Hat Labs, LOLIN and REYAX. The 104 new attachments include 25 physical pinout images, with source PDFs, connector tables, schematics and identification pictures labeled separately. There are 164 additional sourced pin-function rows.

Coverage and remaining gaps · Viewer controls · Radio reference guide

Source tests and browser regression cover touch pinch in/out, mouse panning, Ctrl+wheel, keyboard, zoom reset between references and PDF canvas limits. Automated touch checks use Chromium emulation; physical iOS/macOS trackpads and touch hardware have not been independently verified. First Edition / 2026 and the book draft remain unchanged. This update does not establish complete worldwide coverage or new independently tested power limits.

Windows preview

Download the installer and both matching library ZIP parts into the same directory. Leave the parts unextracted and run setup. Each part is bound to the installer by SHA-256; older releases remain unchanged.

The Windows x64 preview is unsigned and may trigger operating-system warnings. A full clean-machine installation and native UI are not independently verified. No new macOS or Linux binaries are included; the browser guide works without installation.

Original code is MIT. Original guide text is CC BY 4.0, credited to Kal / Valleytech Solutions. Source artwork and documents retain their own rights and attribution.

Black Wire 0.11.1 — embedded reference controls

First Edition / 2026 · collection 2026.09.11 · Windows x64 preview, unsigned.

PDF page-number jumps and saving personal measurements now work inside the Shopify guide's restricted iframe. These local actions no longer depend on native form submission. Enter-key actions and required-field validation remain available; Enter in a notes field still inserts a newline. The store's iframe security permissions are unchanged.

Includes the HaleHound and Elechouse reference intake and Dagnazty's Black Wire theme from 0.11.0. The catalog and source artwork are unchanged in this patch. Earlier releases remain immutable.

Download the setup EXE and both Black-Wire-Library-2026.09.11-part-XX.zip files from this release into one folder. Keep the ZIPs unextracted and run setup. The library files are byte-for-byte identical to the 0.11.0 library; the installer checks their hashes before changing an existing installation. SHA256SUMS.txt covers all three files.

The Windows preview is unsigned. No new Linux or macOS binaries are provided. A full clean-machine installation and native application UI remain unverified. The browser guide requires no installation.

Regression coverage exercises PDF Go/Enter navigation, required-field validation, textarea newlines and both measurement-save actions inside an iframe with the store's actual sandbox policy.

Black Wire 0.11.0 — brand theme and hardware references

First Edition / 2026 · collection 2026.09.11 · Windows x64 preview, unsigned.

Dagnazty's merged theme brings Black Wire's red, black and gold styling to the application, reference wiki, error page and share card. Reference images and PDFs retain their original colors.

The reference collection adds 32 listings covering HaleHound CYD builds, their QDtech base boards and Elechouse NFC/RFID, radio, driver, voice and development hardware. The 106 reference attachments include the original HaleHound build PDF, rendered diagram pages and manufacturer documents. Five Elechouse variants also include 36 source-linked pin-purpose rows. Exact variants, missing physical maps and conflicting source claims remain visible.

Source coverage and remaining gaps · Hardware wiki guide

Windows download

Download the setup EXE and every Black-Wire-Library-2026.09.11-part-XX.zip from this release into the same folder. Keep the ZIP parts unextracted and run the setup EXE. The installer verifies all matching parts before modifying an existing installation. Library parts by themselves are not a portable application. SHA256SUMS.txt covers the installer and all library parts.

This preview is unsigned. Operating-system reputation or security warnings may still appear. No new macOS or Linux binaries are included; those remain source build targets. The browser guide can be used without installing anything.

Publication and evidence

The website workflow checks the app and exact pinned collection before publishing the generated browser guide. Shopify embeds that stable production guide. Desktop downloads and collection downloads remain separate immutable releases.

No new Power Desk ratings were inferred from conflicting build-guide specifications. Manufacturer characterization data remains attributed to its source and is not labeled as a Black Wire bench test. Original artwork keeps its original rights. No book files were changed.

Validation

All 3,244 listing-name searches, 56 JavaScript tests and two archive-packaging tests passed. All 69 new documentation links responded, and the 94 distinct added media files parsed successfully. Original-media hash validation and the public-source secret scans passed. Browser checks covered dashed model search, source images and navigation inside the 18-page HaleHound PDF.

An isolated native Windows installer harness rejected either missing library part and a mismatched later part without changing its existing-install sentinel. Valid extraction matched all 8,011 files. A full clean-machine installation and native application UI remain unverified.

Black Wire 0.10.0 — Inland and manufacturer coverage

Black Wire 0.10.0 — Inland and manufacturer coverage

First Edition / 2026 · collection 2026.09.10 · Windows x64 preview, unsigned.

Adds 118 listings: 68 board/device records and 50 maker-module records. Inland now has 67 records spanning boards, shields, sensors, displays, radios and kits, with eight original physical pinout-image attachments. All 50 DFRobot MCU-category SKU pages were reviewed. The update also includes manufacturer GPIO sheets for two TI LaunchPads, Microchip AVR-IoT WG and Silicon Labs EFM32ZG-STK3200.

Exact SKUs, USB-C versus older boards, kit variants and conflicting manufacturer labels remain distinct. Photos, board labels, schematics, wiring examples and physical pinout sheets have separate labels. Missing sheets remain visible. Detailed source coverage.

Windows download

Download the setup EXE and every Black-Wire-Library-2026.09.10-part-XX.zip from this release into the same folder. Keep all ZIP parts unextracted and run the setup EXE. Setup verifies every part before replacing an existing installation. The library parts alone are not a portable application.

The collection has outgrown a single release file. Independent ZIP parts preserve all original media while keeping every download below GitHub's 2 GiB asset limit. SHA256SUMS.txt covers the installer and all library parts.

Validation and limits

54 JavaScript unit tests, two multipart packaging regression tests, all 3,212 listing-name search checks, 7,851 manifest paths and 3,911 original-file hashes passed. All 291 added image/PDF files passed decoding or parsing. Source endpoint availability is separate from model and electrical review.

Browser checks passed for Inland SKU search, dashed DFRobot SKU search, source links, original pinout viewing, schematic PDFs and a 390-pixel viewport. No app-origin console errors were observed. An isolated native Windows harness rejected either missing ZIP part and a mismatched second part before modifying its existing-install sentinel, then extracted both valid parts; all 7,852 files matched the imported library byte-for-byte. Public text and generated-web secret scans found no leaks. Full clean-machine installation and native app launch of this build remain unverified. This Windows preview is unsigned; signing and SmartScreen trust are not claimed. No new Linux or macOS binaries are published. The browser guide works without installing the desktop app.

Inland historical products, DFRobot's wider 807-product research queue and Mouser's broad catalog still need further research. No complete brand or worldwide inventory is claimed. The Power Desk gained no unverified electrical ratings. The book draft was not edited.

Black Wire 0.9.0 — Search and source audit

Choose a tag to compare

@valleytechsolutions valleytechsolutions released this 27 Sep 02:39

Black Wire 0.9.0 / Search and source audit

Search now keeps chip suffixes separate from display sizes, recognizes Unicode dashes in module names, and correctly applies the global physical-pinout filter before linked-record deduplication. Nine catalog names that disappeared in full-name searches are fixed. Bounded query caching, indexed linked-asset lookup and less work in hidden views improve responsiveness. In a local Node benchmark of the existing 3,090-record catalog, representative uncached searches fell from roughly 4–6 ms to 0.7–2.7 ms; cached repeats took 0.01–0.35 ms. This measures search functions, not page load or UI rendering. Run node scripts/benchmark-search.mjs to measure your machine.

Workbench imports reject duplicate measurement IDs and generate collision-free missing IDs, preventing imports that could make saved data unreadable. Merged catalog IDs preserve deep links, favorites and measurements. Library import removes retired managed files so they do not remain in native packages.

Collection 2026.09.9 adds ESP-Mosaico, P4X and FPGA references: six new records, one populated record and 24 references, including four physical pinout-image entries. One truncated source image was retired; two malformed import records were merged. Detailed source audit and remaining gaps.

Document links now show availability checks separately from source/model review. 2,230 endpoints are accounted for; six old model pages still return not found, and restricted, timed-out or deferred endpoints remain explicitly unverified. ESP-Mosaico GPIO19 has a manufacturer-source discrepancy retained in its scope notes. A responding URL is not proof of a complete or electrically verified datasheet.

Windows preview

Download Black-Wire-0.9.0-windows-x64-setup.exe and Black-Wire-Library-2026.09.9.zip into the same folder. Keep the ZIP unextracted and run setup. The installer verifies the matching library before updating an existing installation. SHA256SUMS.txt covers both downloads. Older releases are retained unchanged.

This installer is unsigned and may trigger Windows warnings. Native app launch and full clean-machine installation are not verified. No new Linux or macOS binaries are claimed; the web guide works in their browsers and the reference collection can be read on all three platforms.

Validation

54 unit tests, all 3,094 catalog-name searches, original hashes and manifest checks pass. The media sweep decoded/parsed 7,493 visuals without remaining errors; 18 non-visual files were separate. The dependency audit reported no known advisories. Browser verification covers model and pinout search, source status, image/PDF viewing, saved boards, power tools, wiki links and mobile layout. Package CRCs, privacy scans and the installer library preflight/extraction checks are recorded with the release validation.

Hardware completeness, independent pin verification, missing datasheets and native platform testing remain work in progress. First Edition / 2026 remains the editorial edition; the book draft is unchanged.

Black Wire 0.8.0 — Jetson, NanoPi and I/O (Windows preview)

Choose a tag to compare

@valleytechsolutions valleytechsolutions released this 27 Sep 00:52

Black Wire 0.8.0 / Jetson, NanoPi and I/O documentation

Collection 2026.09.8 adds 75 listings, populates eight previously empty records and adds 114 reference entries, including 15 physical pinout-image entries. FriendlyELEC NanoPi/NanoPC and carriers, NVIDIA Jetson developer kits, Raspberry Pi CM4/CM5 I/O boards, Olimex, RAK13002 and the Antmicro Orin carrier are included. Intake and exact limits.

Every one of the 2,589 board/device and 501 maker listings now has explicit documentation coverage. Board datasheets, chip datasheets, hardware manuals, schematics and original websites are separate. This is an audit of recorded evidence: older unclassified documents do not automatically count as board datasheets. Missing sources remain visible. Saved PDFs open locally; links labeled online need a connection.

I/O & expansion shortcuts and the documentation wiki make this material easier to find. Search now matches punctuation inside codes such as RAK-13002 while preserving numeric model suffix boundaries. Original RAK SVG pin labels remain sharp when zoomed. The library totals 3,354 board reference entries and 1,511 pinout-image entries; supporting images are not counted as physical pinouts.

Windows preview download

Download Black-Wire-0.8.0-windows-x64-setup.exe and Black-Wire-Library-2026.09.8.zip into the same folder. Keep the ZIP unextracted, then open the setup EXE from File Explorer. The installer checks the library SHA-256 before replacing an existing app and installs the full offline library. The content package is separate because the combined installer exceeded its size limit. SHA256SUMS.txt covers both downloads.

The installer is unsigned and may trigger Windows warnings. Native launch and clean-machine installation of this build are not verified. No new Linux or macOS binaries are claimed. Build targets remain available; use the web guide on those platforms until native releases are validated.

Validation and remaining work

45 unit tests pass, including model search, documentation scope, source links, power calculations and PDF sizing. Catalog paths, original hashes, archive CRCs and private-data scans pass. The Windows installer rejects missing and mismatched archives before installation. Its actual hash-and-extraction macros also passed an isolated native test against the full library ZIP; that test writes only to a temporary work directory and is not a clean-machine app installation. Browser checks cover new references, saved PDFs, SVG rendering, source status and responsive layouts. Source availability is not independent all-pin or electrical validation.

Many listings still need an exact board datasheet, a physical pinout or a verified manufacturer page. No worldwide completeness is claimed. Manufacturer artwork retains its own rights. First Edition / 2026 remains the editorial edition; the book draft is unchanged.

Black Wire 0.7.0 — expanded hardware library and Power Desk

Choose a tag to compare

@valleytechsolutions valleytechsolutions released this 26 Sep 23:17

Black Wire 0.7.0 / manufacturer and SBC expansion

Find more exact hardware references without leaving the workbench: collection 2026.09.7 adds 107 board/device listings, 229 reference entries, 127 physical pinout-image entries and 15 linked maker records. Adafruit, SparkFun, FPGA boards, PortaPack H4M, LattePanda and Milk-V Mars are included. Source intake and limits.

SBC and FPGA shortcuts complement manufacturer/processor search. Architecture filters distinguish ARM, x86 and RISC-V, including mixed-architecture records. Unknown architectures remain available without filtering. Specifications and hardware-source links are visible in board and maker dialogs, including records whose pinout is missing. The wiki includes an SBC guide, direct hardware links and the actual package version.

The library holds 2,514 board/device listings, 501 maker listings, 3,240 board reference entries and 1,496 pinout-image entries. Partial connector maps, supporting photos, spreadsheets and schematics retain their separate labels. No worldwide completeness or all-pin approval is claimed.

The Power Desk now exposes input-specific notes and individual observation sources. Adapter comparisons start without assumed ratings, support A/mA, lock recorded operating bounds, and clear confirmations after edits. Battery estimates include usable energy and optional low-voltage current; power budgets reject overflow and explain conversion losses. Thirteen manufacturer profiles and 22 published observations were rechecked; these are not independent Black Wire electrical tests. The wiki includes a Power Desk guide.

Validation and distribution

40 unit tests passed, including punctuation-aware search, source URL handling, SBC/mixed-architecture filtering, saved-data validation, power calculations, profile validation and PDF sizing. Library manifest paths and original hashes passed validation. Browser checks cover the new filters, specifications links, image/PDF views and narrow layouts. Release assets carry SHA-256 checksums.

The Windows x64 installer bundles the offline library and is unsigned. Native launch and clean-machine installation of this build are not verified. No new macOS or Linux binaries are claimed. Existing versions remain immutable. First Edition / 2026 remains the editorial edition; the book draft was not changed.

Black Wire 0.6.1 — PDF reliability and reference audit

Choose a tag to compare

@valleytechsolutions valleytechsolutions released this 26 Sep 13:33

Black Wire 0.6.1 / viewer reliability and reference audit

Mobile PDF pages previously could not scroll by touch, and native PDF rotation was ignored. Large zooms could allocate an approximately 57-million-pixel bitmap even at a standard desktop viewport. This update gives PDFs their own scroll area, preserves document rotation, caps rendering at 16 million pixels / 8,192 pixels per side, and keeps page controls visible. Page numbers can be entered directly, failed loads can be retried, and cancelled renders cannot overwrite a newer page.

Rotated pinout images now retain reachable corners. Stored measurements are validated before rendering, leaving malformed original storage intact. Impossible calendar dates are rejected. The About page and sidebar use the package version consistently, and the About logo follows the selected theme.

Collection 2026.09.6

Two newly tracked SparkFun ESP32 Thing Plus models, WRL-20168 USB-C and WRL-15663 micro-B, have distinct original pinout PDFs and rendered physical header sheets. Three existing records gain supporting documentation: Pro Micro RP2350, Thing Plus RP2350, and ESP32-P4-Function-EV-Board v1.5.2. Supporting photos and schematics are not counted as physical pinouts. Eight new reference entries bring the board collection to 3,011 entries; 1,369 entries are pinout images. Source audit.

Verification scope

  • All 194 PDF documents / 732 pages rendered in PDF.js, including the newly added references.
  • All manifest paths, linked boards, catalog totals and original hashes checked.
  • Existing image decode audit: 6,646 original/preview/thumbnail paths. Three oversized originals have working derivatives; one manufacturer PNG remains malformed and is explicitly labeled as needing replacement.
  • Regression checks cover intrinsic rotation, page jumps, rapid changes, canvas limits, mobile touch scrolling, visible controls and failed-load retry.
  • Workbench tests cover image bounds, malformed storage preservation, search, bookmarks, calculators, measurements, backups, themes, maker galleries and pin-purpose tables.
  • Windows x64 packaged-app checks passed for offline files, original-file saving, saved-board persistence and PDF rotation, page navigation, rapid changes and canvas limits. Twenty-three unit tests and six browser UI tests passed.

Windows x64 is an unsigned preview. Native packaged-app checks do not constitute a clean-machine installer test. No new macOS/Linux binaries or signing are claimed. No guarantee of zero defects or complete worldwide hardware coverage is made. First Edition / 2026 remains the editorial edition, and the book was not changed.

0.6.0 — Dark & gold workbench

The Black Wire Maker's Technical Reference Guide now opens in a warm charcoal-and-gold dark mode. Light mode is available in the top bar, and the choice persists locally. Your supplied red Black Wire logo appears in dark mode; reference images and PDFs retain their original colors.

The opening section has a new circuit design, and controls, viewers, tables and power tools share the new palette. Theme changes synchronize between browser tabs, storage restrictions are handled visibly, and direct board links now include records awaiting documentation.

The public wiki adds eight practical guides and directories covering the existing 2,405 board/device listings and 486 maker listings. All 32 wiki/directory pages are readable without JavaScript. The app and wiki have canonical metadata, social previews, structured data and a 33-URL sitemap. GitHub documentation, topics and contribution paths are refreshed.

Downloads and validation

  • Windows x64 installer; unsigned. Packaged native checks cover dark/light persistence, image/PDF viewing, original-file integrity, saved boards and maker search. Clean-machine installation has not been independently tested.
  • Browser checks cover default/persisted themes, blocked storage, responsive layouts, keyboard search, source images, PDFs, downloads, sitemap destinations, static wiki content, structured-data syntax and root/subpath hosting. Nineteen unit tests pass.
  • No verified Linux or macOS binary is attached to this release.
  • The hardware catalog remains collection 2026.09.5. First Edition / 2026 is unchanged. The book was not edited in this software release.

Download the installer and compare its SHA-256 with the accompanying SHA256SUMS.txt. Keep previous releases for reproducibility. A checksum verifies bytes; it does not make an unsigned installer signed.
