v0.1.64
Two faults that reached users as errors they could do nothing about.
Fixed
- Linux playback works without ffmpeg installed. The Sentry error
spawn ffplay ENOENTwas a Linux user hitting a hardcodedffplaywith no fallback. The extension now triesffplay,mpv,mpg123,mpg321,cvlc,gst-play-1.0andplay, takes the first that is executable, and checks before synthesising so a missing player costs no round trip. When none is found it names the packages that would fix it. - Reading text in a script the chosen voice cannot speak now explains itself and names a voice that works. The Sentry error
No audio generated. Please try different text.came from an English voice being handed non-Latin text, which Edge TTS answers with zero bytes rather than an error. Chunks holding no speakable character, a markdown rule for instance, are dropped before the request. - The Claude Code plugin no longer offers
aplayorpaplay. Neither reliably decodes MP3, so on a machine without ffplay or mpv they were picked and then failed.
Changed
- Failed reads report the voice and the script of the text to Sentry, so a report can be diagnosed without reproducing it.
/api/edge-ttsanswers 422 rather than 500 for text it cannot voice, which stops clients retrying something that cannot succeed, and lists 66 voices across 31 locales instead of 10 English ones.
