This is the largest release Debrify has ever had — 544 commits and sixteen alpha builds since v0.7.0-beta.1. A household system, an app-wide visual overhaul, a new Home, a new details page, a new platform, and a very long list of playback, sync and reliability work.
Take a backup before upgrading. Your existing setup migrates into an admin profile on first launch.
👥 Profiles — Debrify is multi-user now
- Everyone in the house gets their own Debrify — their own watch history, watchlists, trackers, addons, downloads, search state and look, with nothing leaking between them
- A who's-watching screen in seven looks — Stage Cards is the new default, beside Marquee, Theater, Row, Portrait Wall, Lighthouse and Classic
- Avatars you pick as art, an image or a GIF — plus ten new flat-vector stock avatars
- Admin, Member and Kid roles, optional PINs, resume locks, auto-lock timeouts and ownership transfer
- PINs with a way back in — recovery codes for a forgotten one and a lockout that stays lenient with the rest of the household. The PIN screen is restyled as Meridian
- A questionnaire sets each profile up — answer what this person should be able to do and the permissions follow, including whether they share your sources
- Pages & abilities — choose what each profile even sees: keyword search, Live TV, YouTube, downloads and more
- Settings → Profiles is a real hub, with self-service editing and a DPAD-friendly page-per-section editor on TV
- Admins choose each profile's torrent engines and connection access
- Your existing setup migrates on first launch, and a migration that can't finish starts you on the old install with a photographable reason rather than a black screen
🔐 Credentials, backups & device transfer
- Debrid keys and tracker logins are encrypted at rest, on the wire and inside backups
- Backups are always encrypted and carry profile PINs; a backup you hand to someone else is sanitized first
- Backups and transfers carry the whole profile graph — every profile with its preferences, connections, addons and databases, instead of leaving pieces behind
- Restore from a backup during setup, so a reinstall or a new device starts from your library
- Remote "Transfer Everything" hands an entire household to another device, ~12× faster, transactional, repairing its own gaps rather than hoping
- Debrify TV channels export as a portable archive — deliberately left out of compact backups, since it's the largest thing in a profile
- Exports save to your Downloads with a notification, instead of hiding in an app-private folder
- Privacy-safe diagnostic log export — identifiers scrubbed, off unless you go and export one
🎨 Looks — one picker themes the whole app
- The app is themed end to end. Pick a Look in Appearance and Home, navigation, Cloud, Settings, Calendar, Addons and details all follow — twenty palettes with per-theme typefaces, grain and texture
- Every token under a Look stays editable for fine-tuning
- Twenty selectable themes for the details page, and four premium detail layouts beside Classic
- Five launch idents added — Collider, then Trace (the current default), Frost and Imprint — with a quieter splash spinner
- A customizable TV sidebar — choose which items appear and in what order — plus a pill sidebar style that gives the left edge back
- Appearance settings reorganised around the question each row answers
🏠 Home — the Spotlight era
- Spotlight: the new flagship Home — a pageable full-bleed hero with trailers, shelves riding over the picture, all four favourites rails, and a Surprise me mood
- Five more TV Home layouts — Atrium, Mosaic, Promenade, Deck and Tonight — beside Classic and Canvas
- Spotlight and Showcase run on phones, tablets and desktops too — a mouse hover lifts cards like a remote resting on them, and wide windows can swap the nav rail for a floating pill
- A parallax focus cursor with real mass — lift, tilt and glare on a spring
- Arrange your Home rows — drag by the handle on touch, or pick a row up with OK on a remote. Hidden rows keep their place and return to it
- Merge Continue Watching rows — fold a provider's Movies and Series rows into one, newest first, separately for local history, Trakt, Simkl and MDBList
- Landscape title cards across every layout, optional clean text-free artwork, source label visibility, watched ticks on title cards, and a TV hero artwork quality setting
- Home list rows, IMDb ratings on Spotlight cards, and rows that say what they are
🎬 Details — Showcase
- Showcase: a details page that dissolves into its own artwork — key art, an edge-to-edge hero, and trailers on TV
- The details page learns what IMDb knows, including a Parents Guide
- Browse movie sources straight from Showcase, and season-pack search for series
- Two-pane polish: RIGHT crosses into the episode pane, bands arrive as you reach them on touch, and the season pill answers a finger
⚡ Quick Play & sources
- "Play button opens" — pick your own sources: Quick Play (default), Smart (use your pinned source, show the list when there isn't one), or Always show sources
- Hold Play to pick a source — a normal press plays as it always has; hold and the source list opens
- Quick Play profiles, then simplified to a source priority list plus two switches — with source order, ranking, filter relaxation, failover caps, per-addon timeouts and season-pack handling
- Every configured addon is visible in Sources, with its outcome, retry state and an individual Fetch action — in both players and the native TV browser
- Pin your favourites — provider web downloads and validated addon direct links pin to the top, so the rest of a series starts instantly
- A full episode guide in the player, with in-player fetch of absent episodes
- Copy link actions on source cards, split direct/torrent results, and readable long provider names
- Pinned and debrid sources open like a normal video — no "Checking stream 1 of 5" ceremony; failover appears only when a source is actually dead
- Marquee play loader — backdrop and logo art with live resolve stages, replacing the poster and four checkboxes
🎥 Player
- Every player dialog and menu redesigned in the Spotlight grammar, for both touch and DPAD
- Five premium playback styles for the Debrify TV player, plus five more dock skins for the torrent player, each with its own icon family, quality badges and ratings — Marquee and Cinema are the defaults
- A per-skin series guide — the episodes overlay matches your control style, six designs instead of one legacy list
- An OTT control skin for the native Android TV player, and a proper dock for the touch player with pickable shapes
- Cinema Zoom player mode
- The player stops downgrading what your hardware can take — 10-bit stays 10-bit where the display allows
- Network & Buffering presets for slow stream origins, with memory budgets that can't OOM Android TV

💬 Subtitles
- Embedded bitmap subtitles in the MediaKit player, including PGS on macOS and Android phones, with decoders packaged for every architecture
- Experimental automatic subtitle sync — the player listens to the audio and aligns downloaded subtitles to it, with a quiet status pill; available on phones, desktop, Linux and Apple TV
- A new extreme-bottom position, now the default, and TV subtitles that stay visible above the controls
- Closed the gaps in the subtitle outline for cleaner text at every size
- Safer external subtitle handling (compressed files, malformed responses, oversized archives), honest audio track lists, and remembered language preferences applied through the native player
📺 Live TV & DVR
- Sources open where you actually watch — the first category in your order, with Set as default on a held OK, per source and carried in backups
- Put your categories and lists in order, with a reorder editor built for a remote — pick up, move, drop, with ten-row jumps, move-to-top/bottom and a search field that jumps or drops
- Catch-up in the guide — page back through Yday, −2d and −3d where your provider kept it
- Channel previews can be switched off entirely, for providers with connection limits
- Live TV heals instead of pausing — a stream that stalls, drops or dies re-tunes on its own, on both players, with tune diagnostics
- Debrify TV restaged with a Spotlight layout — a standing rail beside a stage with channel stats, sample strip and health pip — plus channel search, a top icon row, a phone-native arm, and modernized dialogs
- Recordings resolve the latest channel resource when they begin, so refreshed URLs don't break captures, and profile changes no longer cancel queued downloads, desktop recordings or schedules
- Bulk hidden-category actions, and hidden categories that stay hidden on every path
📊 Trackers & sync
- MDBList, fully integrated — watch tracking and scrobbling, Continue Watching and cross-device resume on your MDBList account, your own lists plus the top / curated / official / external directories in Discover with filtering, sorting, shuffle and full paging, a Lists mode in Search that finds any public list by name, Live TV channels from any list, and a calendar source
- Much lighter MDBList usage — response caches and refresh dedupe cut the API calls, including at startup
- A new Settings → Tracking section with three controls: Scrobble (which services record what you watch), Progress source (who owns resume — Smart, this device, or a single tracker), and Watched ticks (which histories draw the ✓, everywhere posters appear)
- A selectable Stremio metadata provider — choose which addon enriches details from Trakt, Simkl and MDBList
- Local movie and series watchlists, no tracker account required
- A Remove action for Simkl that clears a status outright, and caught-up series marked watched
- Mark-unwatched sticks — one action clears the episode locally and on every connected tracker
- Trakt series status made resilient, and Continue Watching aligned with Trakt
🚀 First run
- Setup is a full-screen stage in the Spotlight look, not a cramped dialog — the same flow at every width
- "Set it up here" or "Bring it from another device" — send an entire setup across from a phone, and the screen finishes itself when it lands
- Typing a debrid key on a TV finally makes sense — the keyboard opens in a slot on the field you're filling
- Every screen declares where focus lands and where Back lives
🖥️ Desktop, Linux & Windows
- The Linux build carries its own mpv and GTK stack, pointed at the host's drivers — playback works out of the box on both architectures
- The Windows installer runs on ARM64
- Rails answer to a mouse wheel, search earns a place in every rail, and Addon Priority is keyboard-reachable
- The iPad stops squinting — wide touch learns the canvas scale
- Linux playback fixed on Flutter 3.44, and the Linux vault startup fixed
🎞️ Trailers
- IMDb-hosted trailer MP4s as the backup when YouTube won't serve one, so far fewer titles sit silent
- Regions where YouTube throttles play again — a client ladder with a URL probe before committing
- Ambient trailers on by default everywhere, with a proper portrait crop, and trailers that stop before playback resolves
🐛 Notable fixes
- Resume no longer restarts from the beginning — fixed three layers deep on phone and TV, with the bookmark protected from a failed seek
- Resume survives a change of source — movies and episodes resume by title across releases, on both players
- Continue Watching no longer sticks on one episode, with a one-time cleanup for ghosts existing installs already carry
- Apple TV was wiping My Watchlist on every restart — and channel favourites, resume positions, watch history and settings toggles. Preferences are now durable by default
- Connecting a tracker didn't start scrobbling to it — Trakt, Simkl and MDBList now join the scrobble targets the moment you connect
- Large episode packs could kill the TV player seconds in — metadata now travels as files, not oversized broadcasts
- A "Transfer Everything" import could leave the TV on a black screen, and the leftover bootstrap Admin profile is now retired
- Subtitles no longer vanish when the TV controls auto-hide; auto-advanced episodes start at the beginning; TV search hands focus to the results
- Addon enable/disable works again, disabled addons stay visible, and addon result order is preserved
- Registry SQL compiles on the OS SQLite of Android 7–9
- Crash fixes across the IPTV guide, guide row animations, Google TV Streamer streams, Android TV HLS stalls, the tvOS player teardown and startup
- Android TV browse stutter reduced on budget boxes, and Spotlight navigation lag fixed by decoding cards at display size
🍎 Debrify comes to Apple TV
- A native tvOS port, running on real hardware — the full app: Home, Discover, details, both TV modes, Live TV, downloads, trackers and playback
- True 4K output via the hardware video plane — no more 1080p compatibility mode — and a fix for the 10-bit "blue screen" on HDR files
- An OTT-style control dock built for the Siri Remote; Menu and BACK behave the way a TV app should, and Menu at the root exits to the Home Screen
- Top Shelf with trailers, and multi-profile Top Shelf on by default so the tvOS home row reflects the household
- Audio runs on our own libmpv build through AVFoundation, capped to stereo on two-channel routes — the fix for silent and distorted playback — with audio diagnostics built in
- Hand playback to Infuse or VLC when you'd rather use their decoders
- Snack avatars, the system keyboard by default, and a keyboard action key that actually submits
- Low-memory Apple TV models automatically downshift to lighter Home artwork and search paths
- Debrify survives a tvOS Keychain purge — an unreadable recovery envelope routes to recovery instead of bricking startup
- Every release ships a sideloadable tvOS IPA, built in CI
