OAR 0.3.10

Updates and configurable sources

  • Startup update checks and Callsign → Check for updates. Update and restart / Later / Skip this version, download progress, SHA-512 verification, pre-install SQLite/source backups, and automatic restart after consent. Linux keeps an executable recovery copy and preserves the current user-data directory.
  • Settings → Sources replaces Map: edit the per-user YAML, validate/apply without restarting, and recover invalid edits with Reset config / Ignore. Reset uses GitHub defaults, or bundled defaults when offline/unavailable/incompatible. Last-valid settings remain usable.
  • Country-aware routing for supported weather, radar, MUF, repeaters, geocoding, maps and observation adapters. Global defaults cover all countries; compatible overrides can be added. Active feeds reload after changes. This is not an exhaustive worldwide provider catalog or an arbitrary-API importer; map layers use the first matching endpoint, while feed adapters support request-time fallback.

Interface

  • Quick Switch question-mark tooltips render above the popover.
  • About → License, linked Chris Visser name, GitHub icon, dependency/font notices and bundled Chromium notices.
  • Optional private phone/email fields: country flag/calling code (home-country default), requested 10-digit ###-###-#### local phone formatting, email syntax checks, and focus/hover reveal. Display masking is not encryption; 10 digits is not a universal international number-validation rule.
  • Multiple temporary selected-location cards with Save, Pin, independent collapse and Close controls. Up to 20 temporary pins; saved records remain independent.

Install and platform status

Download OAR-0.3.10.AppImage, make it executable and launch it after closing the older OAR. Existing local databases are preserved. The tar archive is also provided for manual installation.

Install 0.3.10 manually once: older versions do not contain this updater. Future matching Linux AppImage releases can update in-app. Tar archives/development runs cannot self-install. latest-linux.yml supplies the updater metadata and embedded differential block map information.

Only Linux x64 was built and tested. Windows/macOS update code still needs target-platform packages, testing and appropriate signing/notarization; no support claim is made for those release flows. iOS remains unfinished. Android remains blocked pending a genuinely JDK-free approach; no Java, JDK or .NET toolchain was used.

Validation

41 automated tests, 11 browser tests, and packaged Linux desktop/guidance/release-feature smoke tests passed. Updater consent, skip/retry, progress, integrity/backup failures and restart ordering were tested with controlled updater events. A live upgrade to a newer production release was not performed because no newer release exists yet.

SHA-256 checksums cover both Linux packages and updater metadata. License: free noncommercial use; modifications/commercial use require Chris Visser's written permission (third-party licenses remain applicable).
