OAR 0.3.12 — Linux desktop

  • Per-user curl installer: curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/vcsoc/oar/main/scripts/install-oar.sh | sh
  • Profile-private locations, contacts, corrections and home settings; General records remain shared. Signed-in edits to General create private copies. Search/transfers are scoped, and expired sessions cannot silently save to General.
  • Signed-out account menu and a tutorial Help button immediately after Quick Switch.
  • Supplied square/full OAR branding and Linux, Windows, macOS and iOS icon assets.
  • Pictures screenshot button; filenames oar-screenshot-YYMMddHHmmss.png.
  • Uniform monospace License text, collapsed third-party notices, thin scrolling-only themed scrollbars, small-text slider and consolidated Login help.
  • Theme-coloured live-time slider; Escape no longer leaves an orange focus outline around the map.

Existing records and privacy

A private backup precedes legacy pin ownership migration. Unlabelled older records become private when there is exactly one existing profile, remain General with no profiles, or are preserved in locked legacy scope when multiple profiles make ownership ambiguous. There is no recovery UI yet; retain the backup and request per-record recovery assistance. This is application access control, not encryption against the OS user/admin. Full SQLite export now requires sign-in and a single-profile database; multi-profile installations use scoped JSON/ADIF transfers, which do not include devices/invoices. Screenshots can contain private information.

Validation and platform limits

48 automated tests passed, including privacy/migrations and installer tests. Packaged Linux screenshot output and signed-out backup protection passed. The new browser check was stopped at the requested 15-second verification limit; full UI/regression suites were not completed for this release. Linux x64 AppImage and tar.gz are supplied. Windows/macOS 0.3.12 packages and iOS compilation/signing were not tested here; icon configuration alone is not platform validation. Android 16+ remains unfinished: the included JDK-free research probe is not OAR or a tested mobile release. No Java/JDK/.NET tooling was used.

Downloads are unsigned. SHA-256 checksums provide integrity checking, not independent publisher authentication. The installer executes repository code and requires Python 3; review it first if desired. No sudo, separate service, Node installation or FUSE is needed for the installed Linux application.

macOS Apple Silicon (ARM64) manual-install build

DMG, ZIP, blockmaps and macOS SHA-256 checksums are attached, with the OAR application icon. Built on macOS 26.5.2. Not Developer ID signed or notarized; Gatekeeper may block launch. Intel Macs are not included. No macOS automatic-update metadata is published.

Validation: unit suite 44 passed, four skipped, zero failures. Packaged desktop, guidance and release-twelve screenshot/backup smoke tests passed; DMG/ZIP integrity verified. Extended release-ten smoke still fails opening bundled Chromium license notices (using a canonical temporary path). DMG installation and automatic updates remain untested.
