AROAC 0.4.1 — Linux x86-64 desktop release

AROAC (Amateur Radio Operations and Communications) retains the existing org.openamateurradio.oar application-data identity to preserve local accounts and databases. The supplied AROAC logo now appears in the sidebar, About window, Linux desktop icon and browser assets. New Windows ICO, macOS ICNS and iOS icon assets are present in source but have not been built or signed on their native operating systems. Roadmap and license branding now name AROAC; the license's permissions were not intentionally changed. The Linux installer now reads releases from vcsoc/aroac, recognizes the AROAC asset names and retains the existing ~/.local/opt/oar/ installation and data paths for compatibility.

This release also includes the disposable demo workspace (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+D), saved-marker map visibility, illuminated ON/OFF controls, grey-line edge softening and local range estimates. The optional encrypted device-relay integration remains a preview without independent security audit; core local features do not require a relay, server address or internet account. Demo changes are discarded when switching back; online map/feed requests may still reach providers.

• AROAC-0.4.1.AppImage — Linux x86-64 standalone desktop. Make executable before running, or use --appimage-extract-and-run if FUSE is unavailable.
• aroac-0.4.1.tar.gz — Linux x86-64 archive; does not self-update.
• AROAC-0.4.1-SHA256SUMS.txt — verify both downloaded binaries with sha256sum -c AROAC-0.4.1-SHA256SUMS.txt.
• latest-linux.yml — AppImage update metadata (SHA-512 integrity).

The two large executables are GitHub release assets, not Git blobs (GitHub's Git-file limit is 100 MB). The checksum manifest is committed under releases/. SHA-256 checks establish download integrity, not independent publisher identity; packages are not code-signed. The previous published 0.3.13-preview.12 binaries do not contain this latest logo.

Validation and limitations

Built with Electron/Node on Linux x86-64. All 72 Node tests passed. The packaged AppImage passed desktop smoke (offline local registration/login, SQLite persistence across restart, backup, map controls, renderer isolation), new-brand About/license smoke, disposable-demo smoke, saved-marker visibility smoke, and ON/OFF switch smoke. Linux archive packaging succeeded but the archive was not separately launched. No live end-to-end automatic upgrade from a prior published version was exercised.

Only Linux x86-64 was built for 0.4.1. Windows requires a Windows build/signing host and was not built/tested with the new icons. macOS requires macOS/Xcode for native compilation/signing/notarization and was not built/tested with the new icons. iOS has updated source icon assets but needs a local SQLite adapter and macOS/Xcode for building/signing; it is not a release. Android remains blocked pending a genuinely JDK-free local engine/UI and physical device testing (minimum target Android 16/API 36; initial intended test device Pixel 9 Pro on Android 17). The rejected Capacitor Android scaffold is not a supported app. No Java, JDK or .NET tooling was used.
