Vearl 0.1.0-rc9: testnet miner and node (release candidate)

Builds of the Vearl miner and node for the public testnet, which starts on October 23, 2026 at 16:00 UTC. Testnet tokens have no value, the code has not been audited by a third party, and the network can be reset.

Which file do I download?

you have download
Windows 10/11 (x86-64) vearl-0.1.0-rc9-windows-x86_64.zip
Linux (x86-64, glibc 2.35 or newer, e.g. Ubuntu 22.04+) vearl-0.1.0-rc9-linux-x86_64.tar.gz
optional, to also mine Quantus (QTC) with the same GPU the matching ...-quantus-addon-... archive (extract it into the same folder)

genesis.json and SHA256SUMS.txt are provided for checking; genesis.json is already inside the main archives.

Start in four steps

  1. Extract the archive anywhere.
  2. Windows: double-click vearl-miner.exe. Linux: run ./vearl-miner in a terminal.
  3. The assistant creates your wallet and shows 24 recovery words once: write them on paper, never share them (nobody from the project will ever ask for them).
  4. Leave it running. The first start downloads the chain from the seed node; a status line appears every 10 seconds and is kept in miner.log.

You need an NVIDIA GPU of the Ampere generation or newer (RTX 30xx, 40xx, 50xx, A-series, L-series, H100) and the NVIDIA driver (Windows 580+, Linux 575+). Without a GPU the miner runs on the CPU, slowly.

What the miner does

It mines Vearl with the whole GPU and computes the paid jobs of the network. It mines Vearl only: nothing else runs on your machine. The optional Quantus add-on is off unless you install it and say yes in the assistant; if you do, 10 % of your Quantus mining time goes to a published development address (docs/17).

Check what you downloaded

Compare the SHA-256 of each file with SHA256SUMS.txt. Linux: sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS.txt. Windows (PowerShell): Get-FileHash FILE -Algorithm SHA256. Download only from this repository's releases.

The Windows programs are not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen or an antivirus may warn about an unknown program or flag a miner. You can check the checksum, read the source in this repository and build it yourself (cargo build --release).

Known limits

No external audit, selfish mining is not addressed, there is no finality gadget, the peer channel is not post-quantum, and a job that is claimed and never published expires without being reopened (docs/09, docs/13). Report vulnerabilities privately to security@vearl.org (SECURITY.md).

This release replaces rc10. Change: vearl-wallet sign and vearl-wallet verify (a signature that proves you own an address, used to register for the testnet contributors program, docs/19). Earlier changes: the command-line tools print a real help text, and on Windows they wait for Enter instead of closing at once when double-clicked.

The other programs

vearl-wallet, vearl-cli and the other programs of the folder are command-line tools: they have no window of their own. Open a terminal in the folder (Windows: click the address bar of the folder, type cmd, press Enter; Linux: any terminal) and run them, for example vearl-wallet address --file wallet.json. Run a tool without arguments to see its help. Only vearl-miner is meant to be double-clicked.
