Ventic v0.5.3
Ventic 0.5.3
Your library follows you between screens. What you have watched, how far you
got, your favourites and your watchlist can now be kept in step across every
device — with no Ventic account and no server of ours in the middle. Under
Settings → Account, paste the address of a folder on storage you already have
(anything that speaks WebDAV: a hosted drive, a Nextcloud, a NAS, your own
server) and every device reads and writes one small file in it.
- Two screens are merged, not one overwritten by the other. Removing
something from a list removes it everywhere. - Three switches for what travels: watch history, sources, preferences.
Preferences is off — subtitles sized for a laptop are wrong across a room. - Downloads, playlists and anything holding a password never leave the device.
- It runs on its own: at startup, every few minutes, when a film ends, and
whenever you put the app away or come back to it.
Fixes
- Links from debrid sources play again. A resolved link was checked before
playback with a request the webview wouldn't show us the answer to, so a good
link was reported as "could not be reached" fifteen seconds later. Live
channels and cast streams were on the same path. - Casting starts the film instead of spinning. Picking a device now stops
the network scan first — 253 probes were competing with the television pulling
the film. Casting the same film to the same screen twice works now too. - The pairing code is yours to choose — editable to a number you actually
remember, or switched off entirely for your own front room. Still on by
default. - Subtitle fonts do what they say. Roboto, Verdana and Georgia all drew as
the same fallback serif in the preview and in the Android player. - Detail pages fit a phone. A film, an episode, a season and a person all
opened with the poster stranded above a column of empty space. - Text fields can be walked past with a remote without Android's keyboard
covering the screen. OK opens the field and brings the keyboard with it. - All 72 languages translated, including everything above.
