link to Developing the Dev Overlay not found

Summary

I was reading the Developing.md file and noticed that the "Developing the Dev Overlay" section contains a link to the Dev Overlay README.md. Well, I tried to open the link but on mine it didn't work and instead an error occurred loading the page.

and when I try to reload the Error loading page, I actually get 404 - Page not found.

I’m not sure if this is happening only to me or to everyone. Can someone confirm this?

Not you — the file moved and the link wasn't updated. The path in developing.md is:

../../packages/next/src/client/components/react-dev-overlay/README.md

and that whole react-dev-overlay directory no longer exists on canary, which is why you get a 404 rather than a rendering error.

It now lives under next-devtools:

packages/next/src/next-devtools/README.md

Same document — it still opens with "# Dev Overlay" and the Shadow DOM explanation. So the fix on line 171 is just the path:

see the [Dev Overlay README.md](../../packages/next/src/next-devtools/README.md).

Worth opening as a PR since it's a one-line change and you've already done the work of finding it. Might be worth a quick grep for the old directory name across contributing/ and the docs while you're in there — a rename like that usually leaves more than one stale link behind, and fixing them together is an easier review than one at a time.
