Codex Minibar 0.1.0 - First Release
Codex Minibar is a native Windows tray companion that keeps your Codex usage limits visible without making you open yet another dashboard.
Highlights
- Monitor five-hour and weekly Codex limits directly from the Windows notification area.
- Choose from configurable tray widgets: percentages, bars, rings, reset times, and countdowns.
- Open a compact native popup with your current plan, credits, limit windows, and local usage history.
- Get Windows notifications for limit resets, low remaining usage, connection problems, and available updates.
- Automatic 5h limit activation (Send short prompt as soon as 5h limit resets)
- Detect local Codex CLI and Desktop installations automatically
- Keep credentials private: the app talks only to the local Codex app server and never asks for or stores your Codex credentials.
Installation
Download the installer or portable ZIP for your Windows architecture from the assets below.
- Installer: run the matching setup executable. Installation is per-user and does not require administrator rights.
- Portable: extract the matching ZIP and run
codex-minibar.exe.
After launch, look for Codex Minibar in the notification area. Windows may place it under the ^ overflow menu, because apparently finding tray apps needed a side quest.
Requirements
- Windows 10 or Windows 11.
- A locally installed and authenticated Codex CLI or Codex Desktop app.
This is the first public release, so bug reports and focused feedback are very welcome.
