Numbers Native brings native Apple Numbers automation to Codex and compatible local MCP hosts. By Viames Marino, open source under MIT.

Install in Codex

codex plugin marketplace add viames/numbers-native
codex plugin add numbers-native@viames-numbers

Start a new local task and run setup. Requires macOS, Apple Numbers, Node.js 22+ and Automation permission. No Accessibility helper or Excel conversion.

Included

  • 38 typed tools for native documents, tables, formulas, compatible formats and objects.
  • Eleven template-linked chart profiles, custom prototypes and guided chart updates.
  • Multi-table edits with preview/revision/final native readback; explicit native-result checks.
  • Typed UTF-8 CSV/TSV append/upsert with exact keys and protected formulas.
  • Complete document/companion backup, restore and move; native PDF/PNG previews.

Downloads

  • marketplace.zip: full source marketplace for Codex.
  • plugin.zip: standalone Codex plugin.
  • .mcpb: same native MCP tools for compatible macOS MCPB clients; Codex skills require the plugin.
  • server.json: official MCP Registry metadata bound to the MCPB SHA-256.
  • SHA256SUMS: verify downloaded artifact integrity.

Verification and limits

51 portable tests passed; GitHub CI passed on Linux, macOS and Windows with Node.js 22. Native workflows were tested on one physical Mac with Numbers 14.5 (47 native scenarios for 0.5.0 plus installed/bundle checks). A fresh public checkout reproduced every artifact byte-for-byte.

This is a public preview, not certification for every Mac/Numbers version. Arbitrary chart type/series/axis/internal-title editing and other unexposed features remain unsupported. Operations can partially apply; there is no automatic rollback. Imports are bounded to a 2,000-cell resulting table. See the capability and verification reports.
